Introduction

Presented by Vivienne Franks

Flight 1 (1 Note)

  • NV Cloudy Bay Pelorus (Brut) 86 Points

    New Zealand, South Island, Marlborough

    Pleasant light gold.
An aroma of cream and baked apples.
Refreshing, well balanced, this bottle had clearly benefitted from a few years' bottle aging.

Flight 3 (1 Note)

  • 2004 Te Whare Ra Gewürztraminer 91 Points

    New Zealand, South Island, Marlborough

    Light green gold.
An unmistakable Gewurztraminer aroma, sweet with Turkish delight, rose water, delicate, understated and delightful.
Just off dry, fruity with tropical fruits, balanced, tasting lovely after ten years.

Flight 5 (1 Note)

  • 2002 Cornish Point Pinot Noir 84 Points

New Zealand, South Island, Otago, Central Otago

    Very dense, aged, opaque.
A developed nose, earthy and vegetal, tomato sauce and Marmite; nose became far more pleasant after 30 minutes, I suggest decanting an hour before drinking.
Baked fruit, good balance, quite long.

Still fruity in the mouth, integrated, probably at its absolute peak, quite long.
