Introduction

It is always a pleasure to see old friends and share a few glasses. And few things are better than Riesling on a summer afternoon.
Huge thanks to Diane K, Ray O. and Gill B. for the wines and the company!

quick note on the Rose - I am just not a fan of the style. dont be offended :)

all the 3 Riesling were tasted together - as in I had 3 glasses and kept going between the 3 wines for 2+ hours.

cotton candy nose, but spice and red fruit. floral. good acidity, light, touch of grip on the finish to keep it fresh, pretty, mostly dry mid with a hint of sweetness toward the finish. I am not a Rose person. I dont get the point - i can have a Kabinett for less and love it 2x as much. this was very nice and if it was the wine to drink on a lovely day in the backyard or at a party - with some light lunch - i would be happy to drink it. but i doubt i would buy it.

Score is really useless now honestly. Still some sulphur, peach and green apple there too. crisper than the 05. but very closed IMO. i gave it a ton of time in the glass - but still nothing showing up. there is stuffing in it - but i would not open now.

+++ for potential. but its a scientific guess.

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

NEEDS TIME. Opened up slowly and honestly would be best left alone for a few more years. Floral, just a touch of petrol, peaches dominate the mid with apples coming in. Rich on the mid. cocktail of fruit. long finish with a touch of the berries. classic and will become amazing in years. i cannot believe i only have 1!!! (i have 2 auslese thankfully.)
If you want to drink it now -decant for a while.

Floral, pineapple/mango at the start with more peaches and apples as it opened up. Still young - and with some potential. Touch of petrol - but it mostly blew off. Rich mid, peaches and apples. Classis WS. touch of berries. Long finish but a bit soft (this being the major weakness of the wine). This was at about a spatlese ripeness at this point - though a big spatlese to be sure. The softness though was less year and more winemaker IMO since it was soft on the finish from release. Classic Mosel/WS though and very worth keeping for a few more years / drinking with some decanting time. My score is somewhere between RP(rovani) and WS (B.S) which sounds fair to me. Best taste was later at home - thus a few years would only improve it (finish got a bit more zing now)
