Flight 1 (6 Notes)

  • 2006 Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc 91 Points

    New Zealand, South Island, Marlborough

The wine was fantastic. The nose was loaded with peach fruit, plus apricot and citrus. Mixed with the fruit was some nice floral notes and a touch of grass. The palate had peach, lime, and apricot, plus some grass that lingered in the long finish.

  • 2004 Langmeil Three Gardens Grenache Shiraz Mataro 89 Points

Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley

A very earthy nose of forest floor, mixed with some raspberry and cherry fruit. The palate has the raspberry and cherry fruit upfront, followed by a nice taste of mushroom that lasts all the way through the long finish.

A fairly simple wine, but tasty none the less. The nose had black currant and cherry, plus a bit of vanilla. The palate was mainly black currant, mixed with some spice and oak. The finish was good as well.

  • 2005 Yalumba Viognier Eden Valley 88 Points

Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Eden Valley

This wine was good, but the nose was a little tight. There was some barnyard smells upfront, plus just the tiniest hint of apple and pear. The palate was a little better, and had a barnyard/pear mix, along with some spice. The finish went on a long time.
