Dark red color, 1-2mm margin. PNP, 2oz pour over 20 minutes. Red fruit, floral, dry earth, light cedar, mild VA, a bit tight. The palate has tart cherry, very phenolic, lacquer, fine tannins, medium finish. This could have used some decanting. 90(+)pts.
Dark red color, 3mm bricked margin. PNP, from magnum, 2oz pour over 20 minutes. I liked this a bit more than the '03 Bosconia poured with it. Red fruit with some black cherry, licorice, dry earth, cedarbox. The palate is youthful, spicy, oak, vibrant red cherry, currants, black cherry, more energy. Medium plus body and a long finish.
Medium red color, 4mm bricked margin. PNP, drank 2oz pour over 25 minutes. Wow, great nose, funk and floral, savory, dried roses, red berry fruit, brown sugar hints. The palate is also a wow, intense and flavorful, elegant, red berries, cherry, rose, earth, nice oak, medium body, and a 30+ second finish. 94+pts.
Medium red color, 5mm bricked edge. PNP, 2oz pour over 25 minutes. Drank next to the '95 Bosconia GR which I liked even more. This was quite lovely too. Earthy and bursting with fresh cedar, a touch of dill, raspberry, dry forest floor. The palate is bigger, earthy, cherry, raspberry, and a little strawberry fruit, more oak and spice, tart, drinks younger than the'95 Bosconia too. 93+(+)pts.
Dark red color, 1cm bricked margin. PNP, drank 2oz pour over 15 minutes. This was fantastic, neck to neck with the '95 Bosconia GR. Great earthiness on the nose, leather, sandalwood, floral, cedarbox, aromatic, complex. The palate offers tart red fruits, tart cherry, leather, elegant, fresh, very pretty, very long. . This would have been great fun next to that '95! This is a classic. 94+ to 95pts.
Light-medium red color. PNP, drank 1 oz over 10 minutes. There were two bottles of this. One was maderized, the other was on the downswing, but ok. Tart, tart cherry, earth, Dr. Pepper, a little metallic on the finish. 87-88pts.
Light medium red color, markedly bricked. PNP, Drank 2oz over 15 minutes. This faded fast, but at its peak it was quite good and complex. Lush earthiness, subtle limburger, cigar tobacco, rose petals, cherry. The palate is red fruit, tart cherry, tart raspberry, good acid. Seems like you better be ready to imbibe on this one to keep it fresh. Fun wine for a group. 92pts at peak.
