what is rapidly becoming the standard Saturday tasting at Prince wine store. Today was a selection of (relative) entry level Vincent Girardin whites
the Vieille Vignes was very nice and probably the pick of the bunch on this showing - forward, yes, but not obvious. Very pleasant.
2012 Domaine / Maison Vincent Girardin Bourgogne Blanc Cuvée Saint-Vincent
France, Burgundy, Bourgogne Blanc
on the nose medium minus intensity aromas of honey, rock melon and peach. With time spice and slight cheesy notes come to the fore. In the mouth the spice and cheesy notes dominate the fruit. There is a front of tongue burring and the wine becomes a little astringent on the medium plus length. Hmm.

2011 Domaine / Maison Vincent Girardin Pouilly-Fuissé Vieilles Vignes
France, Burgundy, Mâconnais, Pouilly-Fuissé
Aromas of peach and more obvious ripe stone fruit are joined by a slightly metallic note, very slight cream and butter. Also slight sweet spice as well as a certain woodiness. In the mouth the wine has some juiciness and lemon and peach notes. Front of mouth and mid palate fur but a little short.

2011 Domaine / Maison Vincent Girardin Pernand-Vergelesses Vieilles Vignes
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Pernand-Vergelesses
Medium minus intensity aromas of creamy peach, a little muted floral/blossom top note with some citric elements, slight chalky notes and very slight butter fried sliced almonds. In the mouth the wine is juicy with some lemon and peach notes, spicy, quite broad but, after some gum gripping phenolics, it fades a little astringent.

2012 Domaine / Maison Vincent Girardin Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Les Murgers des Dents de Chien Blanc
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Saint-Aubin 1er Cru
A little funky, cheesy, slight plasticine, some herb notes…very muted peach and spice on the nose. It's also quite tight and closed on the palate. Citric notes then fairly firm phenolic grip. Nothing much after that. Meh.

2011 Domaine / Maison Vincent Girardin Puligny-Montrachet Vieilles Vignes
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet
Medium plus intensity aromas of fresh peach crushed between wet stones. Cream and butter with slight sweet spice notes. Smells broad and elegant. The palate reinforces the nose. Plentiful gum and front of mouth phenolic grip, quite tongue coating in fact, but the fruit carries with slight honeyed notes. Beautifully balanced and absolutely lovely - difficult to spit.

2011 Domaine / Maison Vincent Girardin Meursault Les Narvaux
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault
Aromas of cream, butter, toasted notes, spice; almost cake spice, and stone fruit salad. In the mouth the wine has flavours of cream, butter and subdued fruit, it's quite rich and has some tongue coating phenolics that, as they resolve, reveal the fruit beginning to come to the fore. Nice.
