Decanted. This was a rather dark purplish wine with some browning becoming evident. The nose was a blast of cassis, tons of black fruit, and quite a bit of toasty vanilla, very California, but very enticing. The palate had lots of tannins and lots of cassis, full-bodied, big, bold and delicious. An excellent wine in its genre, I enjoyed it!
Decanted. A brick red with definite age on it. The nose was quite nice, barnyard and red fruits, not very expressive. The palate was perhaps a touch tired, but still nice, elegant, good acidity, resolved tannins, fruit fading a bit. Giving it air did bring out more fruit, but still it would appear this is in the down hill stage.
