With a hint of sweetness, this offered an interesting panapoly of flavors with surprisingly viscous body and great length. A touch more acidity would have lent better balance but that's a minor squack as this was impressive and from a plastic cup in the pool no less.
On its last legs...but they are pretty good legs. Entirely tertiary flavors that are reminiscent of a damp forest. There was something regal about this even as it slipped in and out of focus.
Wow, what a surprise! I half expected this to be dead. It's been a long time since I had a Gewurtz. A Grand Cru nose exceeded the palate, which was no slouch either. Lychee, apricot and other exotics fruits and flowers were framed by a medium + body. It hinted at sweetness and made me crave cheese. Terrific.
Forgot that we had this 8 years ago. Gary must have brought it then. This bottle showed far better. The tiredness of the prior one was replaced by energetic fruit - probably a bit too much energy. I didn't get a lot of Cote Rotie character but enjoyable nonetheless with skirt steak with barbecue sauce.

David's - from plastic cups - nice but young so the oak stands out. Seems poised to integrate into a good wine.
