tasted like burgundy should, strawberries and black fruit, light adelicate in the mouth yet filled the mouth, i could tell the tanins where there but they were quite fine. had a slight sweetness to it that was quite pleasant. this wine seems like it will just get better and better

best wine of the night so far. smokey red fruits on the nose. in the mouth it was sweet red and black fruits with a little brown sugar. the balance was great and it really filled the mouth and got bigger and bigger as it sat there....the wine went on and on afterwards. it went really well with the carmelized onions

getting slightly brown around the edges and on the nose it is earthy and a little farmy. the acidity was first thing i noticed on this drier burg. it still had some black primary fruit but this is fading. it drank well with the cheese

This was my wine of the night. this wine had alot going on...slight mocha and red fruit on the nose and with some coaxing even a ittle vanilla. it had quite a big mouth with kirsh, cherries and lots of berries. really vibrant but really well knit and balanced. it had a really long finish and i kept coming back and looking for more in the glass. am sure this will get better and better and drink for some time.

this was lighter purple/ruby in color. med acidity med weight in the mouth. very elegant with nice mix of red fruits and floral smell and nose. quite vibrant stillalthough there were a few at table who thought it had a slight camambert nose....this was one of the best 96's i have had recently and should get better over next few years

My second fav wine of the night and i think the one with the most potential. it wasnt the darkest wine on the table but it had a great nose of cherries strawberries and black berries with a hint of licorice.and all of that came through as i drank it. it was quite fine but firm and very well balanced...the tanins where all smooth but all there..this wine gave me the feeling it is all still coming together and just going to be great in 6-10 years. cant wait

Flight 6 - 1991 d'yquem (1 Note)

  • 1991 Château d'Yquem 90 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes

med gold color, smelled like orange custard and flowers. in the mouth was med weight, starting to have that nice petrol character to it. was basically custard and hony poured over tropical fruits and oranges...really cut the tartness of the citrus desseret. lovely drink
