very pale yellow in color. nose offers floral elements, chamomile predominantly. the feel of this wine in the mouth is well-rounded, and also has herbal characteristics.. a sort of concentrated candied fruit. finish is of medium length. definitely exceptional for gruner.
med+ gold in color, a much fuller color than the other whites in the flight. nose is very bready, reminded me quite a bit of an oaked chardonnay. the wine has extended skin contact and is bottled unfiltered, so that'd explain the fuller body. this was exceptionally dry and not exceptionally expressive to me; quite possible it needed more time to unfold than the tasting would allow.
very light purple in color. nose of raspberry and some candied fruit. med acid, med- body, including flavors of plum. short finish. opened for a tasting so likely not as fully expressive here.
color of deep ruby. funky is the nose, with a nose of baking spices (esp. cinnamon) and marijuana. on the palate, this is light bodied with flavors of cranberry and pomegranate with med+ acid. not much to speak for in the finish. nice wine in what must have been a challenging year for the lesser cuvees.
brief tasting note. nose of baking spice. med+ acid, there is great concentration here and flavors of bright red crunchy cherries. definitely needed some further air to resolve itself, but a very good wine.
brief tasting note. surprisingly deep and velvety mouthfeel for a cabernet franc. med+ acid. rich and full with much less of a vegetal note than i am used to in loire valley reds. very good and needs further time (in bottle and aeration) to reveal itself.
brief tasting note. one of the lightest young red wines i've ever tried, the level of translucency was something else.. a dusty very pale red. very much an old world-styled wine, the expressive nose was full of earth and spice. flavors included the same, and i wouldn't be surprised to find there was a large amount of loam in the soil composition (?). very expressive in every way, and quite delicious.
brief tasting note. showing more typical green cabernet notes in aroma and flavor, the wine had med acid and med+ tannin. a young but promising wine from carneros.
