• 2009 Weingut Clemens Busch Riesling trocken vom Roten Schiefer 87 Points

  Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

  Relatively dark yellow. The bouquet is quite expressive with a lot of tropical fruits. On the palate concentrated, honey, melon, tart apple and also some bitterness. The wine was served a bit too warm and that might have influenced the score a bit negative. My completely blind score was 87.

• 2011 Weingut Clemens Busch Riesling trocken Vom Grauen Schiefer 88 Points

  Bouquet with a lot of minerals and fresh citrus. On the palate flowers, minerals, tart apple and grapefruit. Minerals as well. Served a bit too warm the wine was not extremely refined or complex. But it certainly is a well made and nice wine.

  Expressive tropical bouquet with yellow fruits, flowers and also some white fruits. On the palate the same, some grapefruit and minerality as well. Nice wine.

• 2011 Weingut Heymann-Löwenstein Riesling Schieferterrassen 89 Points

  In the bouquet a lot of tropical fruit flavors. On the palate a slightly sparkling in the start, a very light touch of sweetness but also good acidity. Some melon and soft bitterness. A well made and concentrated wine. Needs a few more years; 2015 to start with.

  Bouquet with yellow tropical fruits, minerals and tart green apple. On the palate candy fruits, good concentration, but also elegant. Minerals and grapefruit/lime impressions as well. Nice wine.

• 2010 Van Volxem Riesling Alte Reben 88 Points

  Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

  Tight bouquet with citrus and pineapple. Also quite focused on the palate with a good concentration, tart pineapple and a firm amount of bitterness. Overall a concentrated wine, but less impressive than expected.

• 2011 Schloss Lieser Niederberg Helden Riesling Großes Gewächs 90 Points

  The bouquet is pleasantly stinky with flint stone and slate. Quite complex. On the palate focused with minerals, tart citrus, esp. lime. and tangerine. Good acidity and minerals and very clean. Elegant and very nice wine. Can last until well into the 2020's.

• 2010 Van Volxem Scharzhofberger Riesling Pergentsknopp 90 Points

  Mild tropical fruits in the bouquet. On the palate very focused with a firm amount of citrus and minerals. Some honey in the start. Impressive and concentrated complex wine which lacks some refinement in this stage. In 5+ years from now this might show quite much better.

  Beautiful bouquet with minerals, candy and some polishing wax. On the palate slate minerality, orange, tangerine, a touch of petrol, candy and a nice balance between sweetness and acidity. Beautiful and complex wine.

  A lot of orange peel and minerals in the bouquet. On the palate apricots, soft and sweet. Medium acidity. A very tasty wine, but I wonder if the acidity is good enough to make this wine last very long.
