10/15/2022 8:32:00 AM - Hello Zweder, I believe your photo to be of Aldo Conterno, The Lion of Barolo, in the cellar of his Favit Estate in Brussia of Monforte d'Alba.

  • Callum's Corkers says:

10/24/2021 9:52:00 AM - Hi Zweder.....I'm afraid I have to ask, where/which winery is the cellar in your profile pic? C's Corkers

12/4/2017 2:30:00 PM - Hi Centvins, Not that I am aware of. Antarctica is bigger than you think ha ha ;-) Cheers.

  • centvins says:

12/4/2017 2:22:00 PM - Hallo Zweder, Do you know euroyup? He lives in Antarctica too

  • anthroman says:

11/22/2017 4:53:00 PM - Hi Zweder, I just tried my first 2010 Pegau and as promised I'm letting you know that my note is up. Loved this wine and I'm so happy I have a whole case!

  • Homer Holland says:

9/2/2017 9:02:00 PM - Dear Zweder, Apart from your tremendous wine TNs, which are a great joy the read, I saw you like and write TNs about beers too, so also because of that I would like to become CT! friends with you. I just started of at CT!, so I still have a lot do, but I will try - but I will never succeed ! - in catching up with you on CT!. For the beers proost ! (I know you maybe indirectly through wine tastings or a wine tasting group) For the rest mostly santé of cheers !

  • Greg Munyard says:

7/27/2017 9:49:00 PM - Thanks for the support, Zweder. You've tasted a mouth watering range of wines, many of which I've never had the opportunity to look at. Great of you to share your valued notes and thoughts.

  • Baron Slick says:

4/30/2017 6:42:00 PM - Hey, in this day and age of social media and globalization, you never know, we might end up meeting and enjoying a '45 Mouton. Your bottle, of course.. Ha! A pleasure to meet you, albeit online.

  • Baron Slick says:

4/30/2017 3:42:00 PM - For years I have marveled at the breadth and depth of your TN's. I am humbled that you'd take the time to stop by my profile. I am officially a fan. :)

  • aChave says:

9/11/2016 9:10:00 PM - Hello, Zweder. Have often enjoyed reading your notes... probably have much in common, I suspect.

  • Soteriologist says:

2/29/2016 5:11:00 AM - Hi Zweder, thanks for your reply ! How in the world did you notice my unfanning among almost 450 fans ? That is some feat ! Both is ok: "Prosit" (from Latin "pro sit", the "sit" being the optative of "esse", so it means as much as "may it be for [your good or health]") is mostly used in Bavaria where we mostly pronounce it in the degenerate form of "Prost". In "Zum Wohl" ("to well-being") you have to pronounce the "Z" like a "ts" and the "W" like an anglo-saxon would a "V". Cheers ! The Soteriologist.

  • Zweder says:

2/28/2016 3:33:00 PM - Hi Soteriologist, To start with your last question: At tastings during the week I spit everything, or swallow 1/3 glass in total at the most. At special events and when I want to swallow a bit, I always book a hotel room close by. And even then, I always bring my spittoon, even to restaurants and spit more than half of each glass. It also depends on the number of bottles of course, but I always want to stay in control. And since we as a group wine lovers often bring our own bottles, the restaurants don’t mind and often, if not always, the sommelier has a great evening as well :-). I noticed that you “unfanned” me and I wondered why, so I “unfanned” you as well. And that probably resulted in your message at my profile page. So now I know why :-). Whenever I come across a nice tasting note from your hand, I will become a fan of you again ;-) Prosit! or is it Zum Wohl? Z.

  • Soteriologist says:

2/28/2016 3:49:00 AM - Hi Zweder, thanks for your reminder and I miss you as a fan too ☺ But honestly, I unfanned you BEFORE I noticed that you had unfanned me too, lol. So it was not a revenge action. Of course we remain friends, and in a real sense I remain your big fan as well ! Keep writing your many notes, they are precious and I am always happy to run across them in one of my wines of interest ! You shouldn't cut these down by 95% just so a lazy member can fan you again, haha. Except honestly, I wonder how your liver copes with it. Do you go on tastings without swallowing much ? Cheers ! Your Soteriologist

  • Zweder says:

2/27/2016 7:10:00 PM - Hi Soteriologist, please don’t take this as an offence, but I had a big smile on my face when I read your message. I do my very best to put as many tasting notes as possible in CT about the wines I taste; mainly for myself, but also for the community. It takes a bit of time…. And then I read it is too much for you to handle….. Well… sorry ;-)… But I will just keep on writing my notes. I will miss you as a fan, but we are still friends aren’t we :-). Cheers. Z.

  • Soteriologist says:

2/27/2016 7:26:00 AM - Sorry Zweder, the only reason I had to unfan you was the sheer number of your TNs. I love them otherwise, nothing personal. It just resulted in too much work thumbing through the TNs to find those written by others ☺

  • BuzzzzOff says:

1/24/2016 10:35:00 AM - Hey Zweder, how goes it?

  • FransS says:

10/31/2015 4:59:00 PM - Dear Zweder, see my corrections; something went wrong, don't know how, but you're right, it wasn't 4 times the same wine. Greeting FransS

  • Collector1855 says:

9/23/2015 6:59:00 PM - Try wine neutral countries like Monaco, Guernsey, etc. and you will not have to revert to Antarctica. If you don't want people to be nosy, better not to write "top secret" on the file cover says an old secret service trick....

  • Soteriologist says:

9/9/2015 4:06:00 PM - Thanks for your kind message ! Well, I am a noob comparatively and trying to carve a path into higher quality on a budget. But since I noticed that the Duero is a good avenue to that end and lately discovered the Portuguese part, the Douro, as very inviting, now seeing your latest notes being full of Douro and Touriga Nacional, there is hope that some day my notes may be of interest to you as well ! Meanhwile you might get a good laugh out of them. Cheers, the Soteriologist.

  • Soteriologist says:

9/9/2015 4:17:00 AM - Greetings Zweder, I like your bold TNs. Don't want to fan so much anymore but can't help it in your case. Right or wrong, please keep up the predictions for optimal drinking windows ! Cheers, the Soteriologist.

  • BuzzzzOff says:

9/5/2015 11:03:00 PM - Hi Zweder! Wow, you sipped some interesting wines sipped on 2nd September! We have never tried one of them so very interesting to read your notes. Thanks.

  • BuzzzzOff says:

7/26/2015 1:14:00 AM - Hi Zweder! Thanks for the comments regarding our ratings. Very useful. We agree regarding those 84 vs 85, and we have modified slightly the 80 to 84 range. The same can be said, as you pointed out, between the 89 vs 90, and we have modified the 85 to 89 range accordingly. Always fun!!! By the way, we tried to respond to your PM, but got the following message: The member(s) you want to PM to cannot accept PM due to their permission settings. Dunno...as you have pointed out, not a very efficient way for CTers to communicate directly.

  • Zweder says:

7/23/2015 7:19:00 PM - Hi BuzzzzOff, I feel honored and of course I will have a look at it and give you my thoughts. You can send a private message through the CT forum. I just saw you have been there already :-). I will start a thread on the forum so you can easily find me. Cheers, Zweder.

  • BuzzzzOff says:

7/23/2015 7:01:00 PM - Hi Zweder. We have an initial draft of our wine ratings. Given you inspired us, we would be keen to send to you for your thoughts. If too much work, no problem. In any event, how can we send a private message? Thanks in advance.

  • BuzzzzOff says:

7/12/2015 11:30:00 PM - Hi Zweder! Just a quick note to say we hope our comments, sense of humour (or lack thereof) are taken in the spirit of learning and having fun together with wine. Stay warm...

  • BuzzzzOff says:

6/30/2015 5:43:00 PM - By the way, Zweder, the 2001 Bahans Haut-Brion is fantabulous!!! We had a while back and full of smiles :-)

  • BuzzzzOff says:

6/29/2015 6:29:00 PM - Hey Zweder! We do not recognise the place in your photo, but we wish we could live and die there ;-). We agree taking a general approach to "locale"...we live everywhere :-) We like your description and share your "problem" of liking most well-made wines. You missed Portugal, South Africa, Argentina and Chile (had a 1999 Errazuriz Founder's Reserve the other day...love in a bottle). Too many regions and wines and, sadly, not enough time. We only started sipping seriously 15 years ago (not including young gulping of anything with alcohol) so cranking up the volume so to speak. Tonight, we will sip the 2000 Chateau Bahans Haut-Brion....anticipation!

  • robertdtwo says:

5/3/2015 7:15:00 PM - Looking at your TNs & their sheer breadth it knocks me out that you found my tiny little piece of CT! I consider it a compliment, for sure, that I had something to say that brought about our mutual fandom. Cheers!

  • garethb says:

4/29/2015 5:24:00 PM - Hi Zweder Thanks for the message. Nothing to do with your taste/notes. Just that I used to live in London and drink Euro wine but now in NZ and drink very few Euro wines...

  • danielk168 says:

4/6/2015 6:45:00 AM - Hello ZWEDER, my taste have changed significantly over the last 2 years and now good acidity is very important for me, so I drink more white than before and liked pinot more and more. I also do not mind oak as long as it is in the background and not obvious. I do travel to France often and in may Italy. Look forward to catch you somewhere in Europe!

1/8/2015 3:50:00 PM - Hi Alper, Still drinking Champagne regularly. Not only the top, but last week I had a DP 2000. Really nice and ready :-). How was your tasting? Sorry, I will not go to Amsterdam. Prowein probably also not this year, but that is in March and schedules can change. I will let you know in case I go to Düsseldorf. February 28th I will be at the “London Matter of Taste” tasting. A friend invited me to join him and this seems to be a special event. Hope we will be able to try a few wines together somewhere. Cheers, Zweder.

  • aquacongas says:

1/8/2015 8:44:00 AM - Hello Zweder, what about drinking champagne? I guess you "make" big progresses. What about the Wine Professionals in Amsterdam 19th January? Will you be there? What about the Prowein? Will you be there? Would be nice to meet you and try some bottles. Hoping to see you. best regards Alper

8/23/2014 7:15:00 PM - I see Basel, in the comments. My father was a career employee of Ciba-Geigy, but based in the USA. I also for a time was employed by Ciba-Geigy and after its merger with Sandoz and is now Novartis AG, in the pharmaceutical side of the business. My father traveled to Basel several times, and really enjoyed it there. He did pass on a 2 year rotation there because of his family commitments. Good to read your notes, and I really like the comments section. I have met many that share palates and interests in the European wines, as that is what primarily makes up my cellar. I go to a gathering annually in Charleston, SC a very long drive for me, but it is always fun and we try to drink some of the finer wines on planet earth. I have met up with fellow wine lovers in NYC, Pittsburgh, PA both in the USA as well Toronto and Ottawa, Canada. Its a great and diverse group of people all with the common passion.
