Flight 1 (5 Notes)

  • 1988 Fiorano (Boncompagni Ludovisi) Sémillon Botte 47 Vino da Tavola 91 Points

    Italy, Latium, Vino da Tavola

Lovely golden color; pretty nose with aromatic complex flavors, fascinating nose with--believe it or not--star fruit which I have never had in a wine before, slight waxiness; palate is medium-full bodied, medium-plus acid, some appropriate oxidation, palate is less intricate compared to the nose; short-medium finish. This is a fascinating experience, much better than my last experiences with Fioranos. 91

  • 2005 Laherte Frères Champagne Millésimé 92 Points

    France, Champagne

Golden-green color; aromatic nose with green apples, brioche, yeast; palate is high acid, low 12% alcohol?, excellent yeast, not too dry at all despite the no dosage, wonderful tart lemon and green apple; finish is medium length and fades a bit over time. This is excellent, fades just a tad on the finish. 92-93

  • 2006 Domaine Dupasquier Altesse Roussette de Savoie Marestel 87 Points

    France, Savoie, Roussette de Savoie

Golden color; slight petrol, some minerality; palate is medium bodied, slight RS, slight petrol, slight white fruit; short finish. An interesting wine, but it falls a bit short for me. 87-88

  • 2009 Clos Rougeard (Foucault) Saumur-Champigny 91 Points

    France, Loire Valley, Anjou-Saumur, Saumur-Champigny

Nose with blackberry, mint, slight green; palate is medium bodied, high acid, crisp fruit, medium soft but youthful tannins; medium finish. Very well balanced with good depth, but hard to be worth its going price. 90-92

  • 1989 Olga Raffault Chinon Les Picasses 87 Points

    France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Chinon

Nose is fairly limited; palate has fully integrated tannin, medium-plus acid, no real fruit; short finish. This is disappointing for me. 85
After 1 hour of air the nose has much more complexity with slight spice, palate is still a bit flat over the hill. 87-88
