  • 2008 Golan Heights Winery Viognier Yarden 84 Points

    Israel, Galilee, Golan Heights

A year in the bottle did the wine good. The oak is more integrated, although there is still some vanilla. Beside that lush yellow fruits in the bouquet. On the palate the same. Also some limestone minerality shows as well as a touch of sweetness. Nice wine though.

  • 2009 Domaine du Castel 'C' Blanc du Castel Judean Hills 90 Points

    Israel, Judean Hills

Almost the same (blind) note as last year. Not really sure what to think. The oak is still quite dominating, but one way or another it also gives you that luxury feeling. The minerals show, but the fruit is a bit overpowered. Give it some more years of ageing so the oak can integrate.

  • 2009 Vinya Carles Priorat Crianza 82 Points

    Spain, Catalunya, Priorat

Bouquet with cherries, dark fruits and laurel. On the palate a lot of fruit yoghurt, but also spiciness, a touch of sweetness, firm acidity and stick tannin. For the bargain price of around $6 this might show to be an excellent buy in 2 or 3 years from now. For the moment I score it 82.

  • 2008 Provins Syrah Maitre de Chais 84 Points

    Switzerland, Valais, Sion

Cherries and raspberries in the bouquet. On the palate cherries and a firm amount of bitterness. I was not really impressed about this vintage, but who knows what the future will bring…. Give it a few more years of ageing.
