USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
Yellow green; apple, pear, lemon, a bit reduced, grilled nuts; high acid, body, some green notes, green apple; a bit shrill at this phase I really thought this wine could have used some oak, funny.
Darker core with lighter crimson rim; oak, fresh cherry, roses, high toned, cedary, wormwood; high toned palate, darker cherry, some herbs, depth, firm tannin, leather, long finish, some polish; nice wine but would like tannin to soften.
Very dense core, extracted, dull reddish violet rim; lots of oak on the nose, chocolate, vanilla, fresh dark berry; ripe and plush texture, still structured but seems young; tasty, swore this was Syrah.
Very dark core with dull maroon rim; nutty, sweet dark cherry, perfumed, sexy, almost raspberry, dark chocolate; some age, nutty palate, oak, acid, grainy texture, strong tannin, pure dark cherry, penetrating, serious.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
Dull see through maroon, dull rim; strong nose, oak still prominent, vanille, creamy, cooked cherry, almost Grenache-like in a way; strong plum on the palate, dark soft cherry, still some structure, meaty, mineral darker feel, sour and tart fruit; tasty.
Black core with bright reddish violet rim; dark fruit, juicy, blackberry, cedar, menthol; plush texture, fatter, broad, expansive, some nutty oak, fairly pleasant texture, some tannin; was in Spain.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
See through dull crimson with pale rim; cinnamon, spicy, soft but penetrating red fruit, young; softer fruit, sappy, cherry, red fruit, sweet, sappy and putting on weight; this reminded me of '08 Burg; definitely improving.
Dark core with light purple rim; perfumed, oak, very sweet, candied, screams purple, firm green note in the back, tobacco; structured though a softer quality, sour plum, wild berry; very easy to drink.
Dark core with dull brick crimson rim; dark fruit, leather, olives, iron, granite, bacon fat, smoke, elegant though masculine (for Cote Rotie); iron, plush tannins, acid; drinking so well and very true to what it is; called '05 Cote Brune.
