At this domain time stood still…. I just compared the label with the 1962 Clos René (Which is the same wine or the first wine; not sure.) But the trees on the photo did not grow since… ;-)Anyway, my tasting note for this 2008: Dark fruits, good oak and vanilla in the bouquet. On the palate creamy red and dark forest fruits, good acidity and oak again. Some herbal and paprika impressions. Tannin with a soft but good bite. Medium bodied and still quite youthful. Start drinking around 2017. 87 - 88
France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
Fairly light transparent red for a Bordeaux. Creamy and lactic, youthful bouquet. On the palate creamy dark and red fruits, ok acidity and slightly sticky tannin. A pleasant lightweight, lacking some complexity. Will probably be a bit better around 2016.
In the bouquet some dark fruits, graphite, sweet spices, sweet licorice and a nice oak perfume. On the palate still some dark fruits, later also red fruits, pleasant acidity and soft tannin. Also a touch of sweetness and some chocolate. Soft bitterness. Good length. A friendly and elegant wine with some finesse and complexity. Not a bit too old yet and really nice now.
Creamy bouquet with some dark fruits, graphite and vanilla. On the palate creamy dark fruits, some bell pepper, good acidity and tannin with a good bite and a bit drying. Ok complexity without being really exclusive. Early maturity now. Probably showing a bit more around 2016.
