little impromptu tasting with Elissa for new potentials for the wine list then off to Fred's with her and Michelle where David did right by us
well, at the QPR the Kindred Spirits and the Cake Wines took the winning votes with an honourable mention to the Le Chat Noir Rose...
No formal notes just vague recollections through a gentle alcoholic haze...
A very pleasant outcome for me on all levels...
NV Sartori di Verona Prosecco Erfo Brut
Italy, Veneto / Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Prosecco
Cream, peach, quite confected…nice up front fruit, pleasantly balanced tending to fruit sweetness, mousse is prickingly pleasant but it is preposterously short. Flavour drops like a stone.

2015 Longview Vineyard The Red Bucket
Australia, South Australia, Mount Lofty Ranges, Adelaide Hills
spicy savblanc dominates despite sem apparently leading…green notes, fresh frass, herbaceousness over slight green apple…sharp and unpleasant on the palate and finishes very bitter and green. Nah

2015 Kindred Spirits Sauvignon Blanc
New Zealand, South Island, Marlborough
Does what it says on the label but rather well. These are the aromas of a well made and correctly ripened marlbourgh sav blanc. Arguably it lacks a little acidity but mouth is watering sufficiently and the wine persists about 15 seconds than the price would suggest. Quite moreish and rather good at this price point (sub $10 LUC)

2015 Delatite Chardonnay High Ground
Australia, Victoria
Cream, butter, apple, butterscotch, slight caramel…a bit of apple, quint tangy initially then a huge slab of butter along with a little and front of mouth grip and a little warmth (though not too intrusive)…oh, did I mention the oak? There's oak as well. Hmm.

2015 Le Chat Noir Haute Vallée de l'Aude Rosé
France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Haute Vallée de l'Aude
sweet strawberry fruit, slight candied/jubey/lozenge notes…more of the same on the palate but not overtly sweet or candied - it's sufficiently juicy to make the wine pleasantly palatable.

2014 Zilzie Pinot Noir By The Way
Australia, South Australia
Pretty but muted red cherry under bitter coffee and slightly medicinal notes…with agitation there is some sweet spice here as well…in the mouth, though, it's bitter and unpleasant and quite short.

2013 Cake Wines Pinot Noir
Australia, South Australia, Mount Lofty Ranges, Adelaide Hills
slight confected and coffee notes dominate muted blackberry and a touch of funkiness…On the palate though it's juicy with black fruits, a bit built and a touch of okay spice. Quite long. Not my 'style' but nice and very good for the price.

2013 Two Brothers
Australia, Western Australia, South West Australia, Margaret River
slight farty red over blackcurrant with touches of tomato leaf and salinity…in the mouth it's sweet with tomato leaf the dominant flavour. Ugh.

2014 Longview Vineyard Shiraz - Cabernet
Australia, South Australia, Mount Lofty Ranges, Adelaide Hills
Blackberry and blackcurrant backed by cream and spice with a touch of mocha…oh dear! A bit oak water on the palate with a smidge of blackcurrant cordial applied. Not very nice.
