  • 2002 Mailly Champagne Grand Cru Exception Blanche 88 Points

    France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru

(Disgorged in fall of 2015) Light yellow colour with a fruit driven nose showing apples, minerals and some seashell. Palate has a creamy mousse showing some oak and lots of lemon acidity but with a short finish. This drinking nicely, and will evolve with more cellaring, but feels a bit simple. Best 2017-2027.

  • NV Huré Frères Champagne L'Insouciance 87 Points

    France, Champagne

(Disgorged in June 2015, base year 2012)
Lovely copper red colour with a youthful nose showing wild strawberries and minerals. Palate is mineral driven with lots of red berries and a long finish. This is a good rosé, but there's something missing that makes it fade away a little. Best with 2-4 years extra cellaring.

  • NV Nicolas Feuillatte Champagne Brut Réserve 85 Points

    France, Champagne

(Disgorged in 2013, two years extra cellaring) Light yellow colour with a youthful nose showing hazelnuts, nougat and lemon. Palate shows a fresh lemon taste with a short but pleasant finish. Maybe a bit weak palate, but better than expected. Best with 1-3 years extra cellaring.

  • NV Jacquesson & Fils Champagne Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs 89 Points

    France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru

(Base year probably from the mid-70s) Lovely golden yellow colour with a small stream of bubbles. Nose showing honey and oak and some chocolate. Palate is smooth showing acidity and oak and a bit tired. This feels like a bit simple cuvée or from a lesser year, but it's still a nice experience and went down quickly!
