Disgorged July 2014. Lemon pie, ginger, orange, roses and earthy notes. Powerful and full bodied but there is genuinely good texture and balance, with a little more acid than the last bottle I had of this wine. Drinking well now.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
Smoke, spice, melon, floral and vanill aromas. The palate is spicy and the fruit has good concentration and intensity. There is a lot going on with this wine already, and while it will certainly improve, it is quite brilliant now.
Mandarin, toast, charcoal and sesame. Palate is rich and the alcohol does stick out over the top a little. Good length. While this will probably be better once it settles, it isn't on the same level as the unreal 2013 at the moment, and probably won't be in the future.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
Cherry, raspberry and toast aromas. The palate has a high level of acidity, with a decent amount of oak driven structure. Perhaps not the same immediate appeal of a lot of Cathiard's wines, but may well blossom in the future.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin
Smoke and graphite, meat and violets. Bright on the palate initially, until the tannins take control and grip throughout the mid-palate into a good length finish. Plenty of potential to develop further.
Nice golden colour. Grapefruit, mint, honey and orange peel. Nicely soft on the palate. Medium depth and length. Holding up nicely. Glad to try a non-corked bottle of this.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
Stalk, herbal and leafy - quite green in nature but not too far for me. Quite lean on the palate as well, with good cut through from the acid. I like the lightness of the wine, while it maintains good structure.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
Floral, raspberry, cherry, graphite and smoke. Really good brightness on the palate thanks to a great line of crunchy acidity. Focused and really pure fruit. Very enjoyable!
Open aromatically - raspberry, ash, cherry and tar notes. More closed on the palate, shows some clean fruit, but with an intense tannic presence at the moment. Has great length and the potential is obvious. Excellent.
Rose petals, black and red cherry, redcurrant and spices on the nose. The fruit has a light feeling of plushness, with plenty of acid structure. Obviously still really young, with the structure at the fore for now, but also shows immediate appeal. Really lovely.
Chocolate, rhubarb, blueberry and some flint. Quite a bit of tannin that works well with some sweet red fruits. Also has a savoury element that gives it some extra interest. Quite tasty.
Cedar, blackberry, tobacco and a line of herbs through the nose. The palate has a nice mix of fruit and savory development. The tannins are quite soft but still prop things up well. Drinking really well now and over the next couple of years.
France, Loire Valley, Anjou-Saumur, Coteaux du Layon
Honey, marmalade, orange, quince and some light herbal notes. Really well balanced palate with fresh acidity and nice restrained sweetness levels. Still plenty of time left for this to age and develop. This was the darkest of three bottles, so looking forward to seeing what the other bottles can do!
Apple, botrytis apricot, cinnamon spices and orange. Lovely persistence on the palate, bright fruit but also has some layers to it already. In a good place, but there is a pathway for it to develop well over the next 10 years or so.

Too oxidized, drinkable but all the complexity and spark is overwhelmed.
