(Disg.2015) Well, one can see the influence of Selosse here (think - oak, oxidative and few bubbles). Relatively dark for the young age. Sweet and sour palate with lemon, watermelon, initially had bruised apple - cider like character. Nice development in the glass, but you got to love the style, this is for wine geeks, if it was a "regular" champagne, I would think it is faulty. And their BdB is cleaner and more precise.
Immense accidity, there's lots of lemon, lime, ginger and at times it even seems that there's acetic acid on the nose - so tart and volatile is the nose in the beginning. A very long citrus finish. This feels like a BdB much more than BdN, so chalky and sinewy.
Rather yeasty and bready on the nose. There's bitterness on the palate that doesn't recide. Medium+ body, but in no way fat, quite typical and heady BdN. With time develops lovely salty caramel note. I would like it to have more vibrancy though.
Rather oxidative, not sure if the bottle was good and representative. Creamy mouthfeel, rather fullbodied. Intense, but not refined. Judgement reserved.
Now we are talking! So very chalky, fresh and taut. Lots of citrus, lemon juice, lean, tight and with immense accidity. Typical clean, low dosage Jacquesson style. More of a BdB style if you ask me. Not sure if the acidity will even out with time though. Intense and young at this point.
Relatively fresh, I wonder when it was disgorged. Might have been some 3 years ago, but cannot be sure. There's so much sweet honey on the nose one could take it for a jar of it. It has this woody-bitter side to it as well. There's also beeswax, quince and still present high acidity, though it is pleasurably milder than '96s have. There's also some stewed fruits not unlike Meunier. Overall excellent.
(Disgorged September 2004) Beautiful bouquet of flowers and fresh honey as well as milk and almonds. Initially somewhat reduced, but it blows off with time in the glass, but not entirely. Beautiful, fat palate of exotic fruits, white fruits and milk. Nice creaminess on the palate. Loved it despite the off-note that it had on the nose.
Wow! Right from the very beginning when the bottle is opened there's such a strong smell of coffee. Very intresting, and enticing nose of overripe peach, coffee, coffee liquor, apple pie and toffee. Uber intense. Lovely creaminess with full bodied PN character on the palate. Still high acidity and good balance. This was a show stopper and WOTN.
(Disgorged January 1997, 31m on the lees) Still some bubbles left, but not that much. Mature and vinuous nose of mushroom, forest floor, sweet cumquat. Rather full bodied. This was more about wine that bubbles. A rare experience.
