Chez Kimelman

Dinner organized around acquisition of four different white wines from recommended Monthelie producer. A quick stop on Arthur Avenue for provisions and we were set. We were five with Bambi and James.
Started early along with San Danielle prosciutto and mozzarella from Casa della Mozzarella and cranberry walnut bread from Madonia's. A very good Bourgogne from 50 year old Meursault vines.
With shrimp cocktail and Bigelow's chowder. A nice juxtaposition of the more complex and evolved Mikulski and the livelier, fruitier Boussey.
With crab cakes.
With scrambled eggs and Sevruga caviar. This would have been nice if the Mikulski VV behaved.
Two extraordinary wines with roast rack of veal from Vincent's and deeply flavorful grilled ribeye from Florence Meat Market and broccoli and cauliflower.
We concluded with a marvelous Vacherin d'Or, assorted Bigelows pies and cinnamon babka, fruit & nut rugelach and flodan from Andre's.

Impressive Bourgogne. Good body and nice citrus notes detracted only by a slight bitterness. Real creamy nose (if that's possible).

I was advised that this bottle had been subjected to some harsh conditions. Still this very pale red was a pleasant, simple quaff.
