Introduction

My turn to host and return to and old school formula and taste 8 great wines from both CA and Bordeaux. This group just celebrated 50 years, however I am a second generation along with (2) other members. The evening was held at George Trois inside Restaurant Michael and Chef Michael prepped a couple of courses to go with our dinner.

Flight 1 (1 Note)

Meet and greet and catch up with one another.

Flight 2 (8 Notes)

Double decant blind tasting. Interesting debate about the wines, their age, their pedigree and what was it that I was trying to showcase with my tasting. Bread and water served while we tasted.

Flight 3 (1 Note)

Ocetra "crystal" caviar, potato nest, chives, crime fraiche, on top of a buttermilk blini.

Then Wild Alaskan Halibut, crepes and Black trumpet mushrooms, sauce bercy.

Flight 4 (1 Note)

Roast Breast of Duckling, foie gras, chanterelles, foil gras sauce.

Flight 5 (1 Note)

Grand Marnier - Kumquat Soufflé.

Closing

A fantastic showing of wines. I was anxious to see how the Ridge would show up as this was tied for me at #2. Ridge I have read about numerous times shows very well against Bordeaux and it is a testament for what Ridge does. Great wines that age. My WOTN was the Dominus.
