From magnum. I am not certain of the disgorgement date, but think it is fairly recent release. Lots of orchard fruit, lots of bready character. Good length, VG concentration.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
From magnum. Charming floral start alongside combination of peach, apple and pear aromas, then similar flavors. Rich style, slightly fleshy to start, more balanced middle through finish. Moderate length. Probably better in a year or two, but not a wine to cellar for the long-term.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Lots of mature red fruit with good spice. Very good mineral notes from middle to finish. I like the combination of flavors and classically Chambolle textures, but expected slightly more freshness. Consistent with last time tasted one year ago. Best to enjoy now through 2020.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Opened at 12, tasted around 2:30 and again at 4:30. Lots of red cherry and berry start-to-finish with savory spice, lots of nuance. Powerful structure, well integrated. Wonderful now, clearly with upside.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Open at 12, tasted around 2:30 and again at 4:30. Complex assortment of red, black and blue berries with sweet spice, espresso and dark chocolate. Very rich and balanced right now, with moderate structure in the background. I think this is at its absolute peak right now.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Open at 12, tasted around 2:30 and again at 4. Red fruit with spice hints, reasonably mature. Good concentration, moderate length. Best to enjoy over the next few years.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Open at 12, tasted around 2:30 and again at 4:30. Nicely floral start with an array of red and black berries. Good fruit favors, better textures and nuance. Probably still with upside. Much fresher vs last time tasted, 5 years ago.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Open at 12, tasted around 2:30 and again at 3:30 and 4:30. Lots of ripe red and black cherry aromas and flavors, with lots of power. Aromas got better each time tasted. Lots of 2009 ripeness and concentration, but this probably shows the least Chambolle finesse.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Open at 12, tasted around 3 and again at 4:30. Tough wine to assess. I like everything here - broad array of fruit, savory spice, elegant structure - but somehow not quite in harmony. Give this more time in the cellar. I adored this wine (twice) before/ at release in 2012, so remain somewhere between hopeful and optimistic.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru
Very perplexing. One of the library release magnums I enjoyed tremendously several years back (multiple times). Today it seemed slightly stewed and tired, then also somewhat stripped on its finish. It got slightly better at moments, but its general trajectory was downward. I am fairly certain this was an off bottle.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru
Opened and decanted an hour before I tasted. Massively huge and concentrated, today I found this much more interesting than tasty. Lots of roasted meat, black cherry and currant, liqueur and almost sweet spice. Very Rhone-like to me, but I always think Dugat-Py is from the Rhone when tasted blind. I think this has sensational 95+ point potential, but would not open a bottle until 2025 or (much) later.
Black berries throughout with dark chocolate and baking spice hints. Very good concentration, nice balance and a finessed finish. Very good now, with upside.
