France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Montlouis-sur-Loire
Blind. Guessed '08 Rhys Chardonnay.
Gold color, looks like it had some age. Hint of caramel and creamy. Lightly oak and smooth. Salinity, some sweetness and a fair amount of baking spice.
A little effervescence but it disappeared quickly. Green apple and pear with a nice mineral foundation. Nose was a bit muted. Very enjoyable on a warm afternoon with artichoke dip.
Looking at FMIII previous note I'm wondering if this may have been oxidized. It looked and smelled like Pimms Cup, very herbal. Very unique. The fruit profile was like a brandy marinated cherry. Different, odd, and enjoyable.
Oh my, like everything about this bubbly. Gold color, looks a bit older but that just might be the meunier at work. Brassy, acid forward, lime, pithy, and angular. Good stuff and great story.
Blind. Guessed Carlisle Zin, younger but no idea of vintage or vineyard.
This is a spectacularly balanced and elegant wine. Deep maroon color but has that "zin" hue. Red berries and light cherry. Good spice. Medium light weight. Beautiful wine.
Blind. Pretty comfortable this was a Bordeaux blend from either a modern French producer or California. Went for California.
I really enjoyed this and it is aging slowly and gracefully. No rush. I was certain there was petite verdot in here, wrong. Beautiful nose, very dark color and a little heat. Fine crunchy tannins. Great structure. Oak is prevalent, unique American characteristics.
Not bad, I thought this was the 2012 vintage when I purchased it. Rich golden color. Fruit forward Apple with lemons and gentle effervescence. Not bad.

2008 Carlisle Petite Sirah Yorkville Highlands

Oily black color, really opaque. Black and blue fruit wrapped in a charcoal mineral blanket. Lots of baked blueberries. It's a big wine and delicious.

This has it all for me. The best of what champagne rose can do at a great price. Crisp, clean, dry, and light red berries. Yummy stuff.
