Introduction

Very good presentation in a very nice location. Perfect conditions, perfect stemware, very good food. 50 EUR pP

Flight 1 - Pinot Noir (4 Notes)

Flight 2 - Riesling white capsule (7 Notes)

Please remember:
Molitor does NOT designate the wines on the lable as dry! For him, they are sensory dry but not legally, so expect wines with residual sugar up to 10-11gr/l

Flight 3 - Riesling green capsule (off-dry) (9 Notes)

Even if there were some nice wines, I don't fully get the green capsules. It's a bit of "you can't have your cake and eat it". They are somewhere in between and some wines are more like golden capsules...

Flight 4 - Riesling golden capsule (sweet) (9 Notes)

These wines need a hell lot of time, at least 15+ years for the Auslese ***. For some wines I had the feeling that they lack acidity. It will be interesting to see, how they develop.

Flight 5 - 10 years after (1 Note)

All wines from 2007 were excellent, stunning and great. Molitor wines can age and grow perfectly.

  • 2007 Markus Molitor Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese *** (White Capsule)

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

*** Brief notes for my records, based on just a tasting pour – no rating ***
    Glass: Zalto Universal
Nose: Fine intense perfume of slate and petrol. Palate: Saltiness, intense, lots of extract, nice orange notes and bitter orange zests, veery long. Great wine that shows, how well Molitors wines can age and be after a decade in the cellar. Not even at its peak and potential for further ageing of at least 5-10+. 94-95
