Introduction

All wines were served blind. The only hint given was that each set had the same producer.

  • NV J.W. Burmester Porto 10 Year Old Tawny 88 Points

    Portugal, Douro, Porto

Juice and sweet raspberry fruit with a lovely spicy aftertaste.
An okay wine but lacks a bit of acidity.

  • NV J.W. Burmester Porto 40 Year Old Tawny 86 Points

    Portugal, Douro, Porto

Very dusty and old nose. The flavors are equally dusty, with a watery aftertaste.
There are some caramel and cigar-box flavors and also some different nuts.
The wine is overly sweet and clearly lacks acidity. It has the feel of a special wine but it seems to just be to old.
Highly disappointing when the wine was revealed.
