Orange, apple, musk, tart lemon and light oxidative handling notes, along with mint when given enough air. Crunchy acidity, good fruit wight, with medium depth and good length. Will leave my next bottle for 5 years.
Tropical nose with pear, pineapple, yellow florals, peach and orange rind. Powerful and ripe on the palate, really good length and balance here. Fine acidity and drinking really well at the moment with the components sitting together well. Will likely hit another stage of development given time but it's really good now!
Blind. Flint, musk, white florals, some toast and candied notes. Really classy palate, good amount of fruit depth with both lift and drive. Coming back to it after some Chardonnay it seems a little simple, but it's a really nice wine all the same.
Blind - picked it as a Coche village lieu-dit. Gunsmoke, flint, lemon, orange and straw aromas. Has some ripeness to it, but really lovely flavour purity. Really shows off good depth and length. Well integrated acidity provides control. Delicious stuff.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
Blind. White florals, herb, toast, stone fruit and marshmallow. Softening out on the palate, with honeyed edges and while the acidity is still good, it feels like this one might be best consumed now. Potentially seeing some premox here but it's rather mild and still let me enjoy the wine.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
Blind. Orange, earth, graphite, kumquat, honey and a spicy oak note on the nose. Good acidity here, lighter in depth than the Combettes but still has some charm about it. Medium length.
Soap, lemon, mineral and orange peel aromas. Quite high in acidity, this is crisp and cleansing along the palate while having light and mineral fruit intensity. Pretty good drive, though probably missing a little spark to lift it to being great.
USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Eola - Amity Hills
Smoky, wheat, floral and flinty notes. Bright on the palate while still having a sense of restraint, good structure and moderate depth to the fruit. Nice flavour and flow.
Blind. Ash, cherry, tobacco, briad, roses and earth. Lovely balance, fresh red fruit with a savoury earthy overlay. Tannins are set beautifully, with the fruit blending in really well. Excellent wine.
Licorice, chocolate, youthful fruit - blackcurrant, cherry and pepper. The balance is holding up well, has good freshness and the structure is holding up well. Will continue to do well in the short-medium term.
Blind. Olives, spice, tarmac, tobacco, blackcurrant, chocolate and violets - interesting and deep nose. Quite a good fruit lift with some grilled meats coming through as well. The tannins are bold and the fruit kicks in well toward the finish to cover them up. Good length. Plenty of time on this wines side.
Dusty, grassy green notes, redcurrant, sawdust and violets. Good fruit richness on the palate, but maintains a cool fruit profile, plenty of acidity weaving its way through. Likely to settle and improve with time.
