Flight 1 (9 Notes)

  • 2014 Comando G Rozas 1er Cru 91 Points

    Spain, Madrid, Vinos de Madrid

Identical to my previous note, but fortunately the reduction has faded away. Wonderfully silky and elegant, juicy and creamy, pure and relaxed, floral and fragrant, gentle grip, long. So deliciously stylish and dangerously (it is 14.5% ABV!) drinkable.

  • 2015 JM Dreyer Pinot Noir Anima 88 Points

    France, Alsace

An interesting wine, silky fruit of wonderfully pure, ripe red cherries, just a hint of funk, soft but fresh, ever so slightly estery finish. Good in its way.

  • 2016 Domaine Jean Teiller Menetou-Salon Rosé 88 Points

France, Loire Valley, Upper Loire, Menetou-Salon

Pale salmon pink colour; juicy and supple, floral, slightly sweet fruit, cherry and strawberry, soft but fresh, good length.

  • 2016 Pierre Boyat Vin de France Les Rennes 84 Points

    France, Vin de France

Slightly murky pale amber colour; not very much on the nose, hints of spiced apple; juicy and soft palate, slightly estery, hint of carbon dioxide; short and spicy finish. I have said it before and I will say it again: I have nothing against Vin Nature. Those that are done well often have a specific beauty which is hard to achieve in the presence of sulphur, but a lot of them are just failed attempts at something which is very difficult to do. Like this one.

  • 2016 Christine & Gilles Paris Morgon 89 Points

    France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Morgon

Good Morgon typicity, minerals and violets, peach and cherry, pure and fragrant, very light structure, almost ephemeral, juicy and supple, hint of carbon dioxide, decent length.
