Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley
Caramel, fig and a touch of a medicinal note. Moderate sweetness with similar intensity, feels well balanced with a light kick of spirit on the finish. Pretty nice!
Caramel, raisin, orange peel and some wooden notes. Sweetness and intensity steps up on the palate versus the 10yo. Starts to show some rancio as well. Good acidity and lift. Like the depth. Impressive all around.

Cherry liqueur, vanilla, licorice and caramel on the nose. Palate is well balanced, the deep sweetness and acidity playing well together. Good length and very good length. A standout among the first flight.

Meaty, plum, smoky wood, ash and some spirit. The spirit shows through on the palate as well, with the sweetness sitting in the background. Probably not as much depth as the 1996 next to it, but still good.

From cask. Licorice, molasses, rancio and nutty notes. Beautifully balanced with great weight while remaining fresh and lifted. Flows with purpose across the palate, delicious and expansive flavour. Hope it is just as good or even better for those trying it 40 years from now on release!

From cask. Strawberry, lemon, maple and sultanas - some surprising aromas, but lovely and distinctive. Palate is less bold than the 1981, probably having slightly better balance as a result. Really good length and style.

From cask. Really fresh nose, cherry, coconut, vanilla, cinnamon and raspberry. Palate is sweet and spirity, it has moderate depth and probably feels like it needs more time to settle down and concentrate further - hopefully it'll get there.

From cask. Licorice, coconut, chocolate, cherry and wooden notes - very fresh overall. Really lifted on the palate with fine acidity cutting through. Lovely statute and refined exuberance.

From cask. Chocolate, toast, raspberry, apple pie, spice, vanilla and rose. Blasts across the palate with amazing intensity of rancio, spice and layered sweet fruits. Incredible length, this is undeniably wonderful.
