9 of us gathered to do a smackdown of sorts, pitting Bordeaux against Napa. Bordeaux managed to win, although there were some excellent Napa cabs. My WOTN was 1994 Joseph Phelps Insignia. But really, 5 wines won tonight, as they were spectular.
2005 Argyle Extended Tirage Brut 89 Points

Similar to previous notes. Pear stands out. Clean.

NV Charles Mignon Champagne Brut Premium Reserve 88 Points
France, Champagne
Even for an NV champagne, this was quite lackluster. There is some yeastyness, and that's about all. I hope other bottles show better.

2013 Kistler Chardonnay Trenton Roadhouse 93 Points
USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
This is a fairly restrained Kistler. The spicy oak is not heavy, and there is ample acidity. There is a lot of golden fruit. This is a really nice chardonnay.

2011 Jean-Claude Boisset Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes 88 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
I didn't get much Burgundy out of this wine. It is a fairly lean pinot noir without much minerality, or anything to elevate it above "good average".
