Weekly tasting group RWP #280: 5 whites + 5 reds fully blind

We get 10 wines in 10 glasses. All wines of a different varietal or blend and from a different location. We have to tell in approx 1 hour where the wine is produced and of which varietal or traditional blend, the vintage and as many details as we can give. For big ego’s this is the ultimate way to land with both feet on the ground and become humble again ;-) ;-)!

  Flowers and pear in the bouquet. On the palate ok acidity and slightly aromatic. No more notes.

  The bouquet is not very expressive, but shows some green apples. Same on the palate, soft citrus and ok acidity. No more notes.

• 2010 Sick-Dreyer Riesling Kaefferkopf Cuvée Joseph Dreyer Grand Cru Kaefferkopf

  France, Alsace, Alsace Grand Cru

  Straw and oxidized impressions in the bouquet as well as the taste. Same on the palate. No more notes. Could well be a Jura wine. This is what I (and several of the other experienced tasters wrote down.) so no score. Possibly not really faulty, but certainly very special.

• 2014 Fasoli Gino Soave Superiore Pieve Vecchia 87 Points

  Grapy, aromatic and minerals in the bouquet. On the palate a bit fat and spreading through the mouth, fat butter, a firm dose of oak and a bit aromatic. Ok acidity, but not really extremely refined.

  Quite transparent. In the bouquet some earthy and herbal and spicy impression. On the palate metal, cherries, some ok acidity and tannin as well as a touch of sweetness. 86 - 87

  Transparent, a bit rustic and pleasantly stinky in the bouquet. On the palate small red forest berries, mild acidity and tannin. Pleasant and round wine.

  A bit rustic, minerals, smoke and oak in the bouquet. On the palate full bodied, cherries, dark berries, a touch of sweetness, firm acidity and firm, slightly sticky tannin.
