Introduction
Thanks to Thomas Rivers Brown and Tony Velebil for hosting us at Outpost a few weeks ago! All the wines were very impressive. There were 2 wines that we tasted out the barrel that I have not entered below, in part because my notes were kind of poor and I did not see them listed on CT. So I will post them here instead.
2006 Schrader Cabernet Sauvignon George III Beckstoffer To-Kalon Vineyard -- A huge wine with lots of jammy red and black fruit. Generous on the palate. Finishes with a touch of maple syrup. 90-91 points.
2006 Two Hands Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain -- Notes of ripe plum and blackberries. Mouthcoating with chewy tannins. Bit of heat on the finish. 89-90 points.
2006 Outpost Grenache 89 Points

Tasted from the barrel. Complex and subtle notes of raspberries, Asian spice, and white pepper. Lots of potential.

2006 Maybach Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Materium 92 Points
USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville
Tasted from the barrel. Notes of cassis, dried herbs, and lead pencil. Lots of depth. Chewy tannins. Will be an excellent wine to be sure, but it's true potential remains to be seen. 92-93 points.

2006 Schrader Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard 94 Points

Tasted from the barrel. A blockbuster wine already. Generous and opulent notes of ripe black cherries, plum, red currants, mocha, and caramel. Flashy and decadent and a real joy to drink. 94-95 points.

2006 Outpost Cabernet Sauvignon True Vineyard 91 Points

Tasted from the barrel. Dense and structured notes of wild berry, black plum, spice, and volcanic soil. Almost zin-like in its opacity. 91-92 points.

2006 Outpost Petite Sirah The Other 91 Points

Tasted from the barrel. Dense and powerful, yet surprisingly elegant. Notes of dried berries, minerals, and vanillin oak. Impressive.
