France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru
Spice, lemon, vanilla, nutty notes and a mineral edge under the fruit richness. Weighty and full bodied palate but also remains fresh and driven. Powerful and structured, this is a nice point to approach this wine.
Honey, lime, pine, pear, sandalwood and wax. Strong line of acidity, bright and fresh. Good length, impressive balance given how much is happening in the nose. Time left but also stunning well now.
Herbal, apple, white florals and lime. Good texture on the palate, the flavours are more restrained than the boldness of the nose. Mid length, maybe just lacking a bit of dimension.
Orange peel, pomegranate, toast and wax. Lovely sweet profit, really composed and balanced. Maybe lacking a bit of complexity to be better but still great to drink.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
Blind. Rubber, cranberry, clay and raspberry. Clean and crunchy acid with some sweet fruit. Falls away early and misses some depth. Not really feeling it tonight, might just be in a dumb phase. Given the benefit of the doubt given what it is.
Floral, tar, blackcurrant, cherry liqueur and tea leaves. Red tinged fruit edges, with lift and verve, good length stretched out by acidity. Plenty of pure fruit and plenty of life ahead.
France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
Blind. Blackcurrant, eucalypt, tobacco and pencil shavings. Tannic grip with good fruit in the background. Lovely composure and great length. Delightful wine.
Floral and lemon, grapefruit and mandarin. Palette is approachable, with a touch rounder fruit compared to normal. Still has good spark and the weight is balanced by fine acidity. A very good release.
