Flight 1 (8 Notes)

  • 1997 Domaine d'Auvenay (Lalou Bize-Leroy) Bourgogne-Aligoté Sous Chatelet 93 Points

    France, Burgundy, Bourgogne-Aligoté

From the Wijnmakelaarsunie Museum Collection. Lively appearance, light to medium colour; very impressive nose, completely fresh at 22 years of age, perfectly integrated, rich and toasty, but with the crisp citrus note which is so typical for the variety; wonderful purity and precision on the palate, still tight and energetic, concentrated and fresh, savoury notes from the oak; slightly light finish but with excellent nuance, excellent length.

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Auxey-Duresses

From the Wijnmakelaarsunie Museum Collection. Rich and mature but lively appearance; excellent depth on the slightly discreet nose, harmonious and delicately spicy, hint of honey and clear matchstick, lemon curd, hint of earth, green apple, completely fresh; shapely palate, good concentration, vibrant and very powerful for a village; lots of savoury oak on the finish.

  • 1997 Maison Leroy Meursault 91 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault

From the Wijnmakelaarsunie Museum Collection. Evolved, full yellow colour with a golden sheen; slightly stinky nose but this blows off, honeyed grapes, shows nice mealy Meursault typicity, whiff of maderisation; the palate is light with sligthly marked acidity, apple and crisp citrus, subtle but savoury oak; oaky finish.

  • 1976 Maison Leroy Beaune 89 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune

From the Wijnmakelaarsunie Museum Collection. Very light colour, fully mature and transparent, delicate and fresh, slightly metallic acidity and light but with tough bitters, light flavours, red berries, hint of undergrowth, smoky oak; clean and fresh but light finish. Has seen better days but still interesting.

  • 1993 Domaine Leroy Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes 91 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru

From the Wijnmakelaarsunie Museum Collection. Fully mature colour, almost completely bricked through; mature, gentle and fragrant nose, freshness and smoky oak, honey and spice; charming and flowing but also concentrated palate, floral and savoury, firm tannins; light and tight finish, slightly estery. The nose is its best feature.

  • 1996 Domaine Leroy Clos Vougeot 93 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos Vougeot Grand Cru

From the Wijnmakelaarsunie Museum Collection. Fully mature colour, almost no red left; complete, mature and warm nose, glowing, vinous and slightly nutty, opens up to macerated red berries; masculine, firm and spicy palate, fresh and lively, quite tannic, vestiges of fresh fruit; excellent length.

  • 1996 Domaine Leroy Clos de la Roche 95 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru

From the Wijnmakelaarsunie Museum Collection. Much more lively and youthful colour than the previous two wines; hugely impressive on both nose and palate, concentrated, with a lovely sauvage, excellent fruit and freshness and with firm tannins, still has a lot in reserve, very good persistence and length.

  • 1993 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Grands-Echezeaux 92 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru

From the Wijnmakelaarsunie Museum Collection. Bottle No. 07425. Mature but lively appearance; mature nose, warm and ripe but lacks a little definition, not very typical for the Domaine; slightly tired palate, completely mature, firm tannic structure, no lack of freshness; slightly light and tight finish.
