After some guesswork we were told these were Island wines. Then we started to get closer in our guesses. Fun flight, but paled in comparison with the next white flight quality wise.
What a fantastic flight!
Maybe the best wine of the evening? At least top five. Excellent.
To be able to field such a quartet and to learn about how they are all acquainted with the original master starting off the flight. Wow. And the wines were great too.
I think I was in Chianti. At least I got the country right... Found myself liking the most modern winemaking the best (the Scavino bric del fiasc)
We were all pretty much in new world Cabernet Sauvignon. And with the clue that these two producers had between the two, produced more than 100 vintages, that narrowed it down quite a bit.
2016 Azores Wine Company Arinto dos Açores Sur Lies
Portugal, Açores, Pico
Tasted double blind.
So much green apple, lemon juice, sharp as a razor, thin fruit in the middle, or maybe its just the acidity. quite ok. I guessed a too young Austrian Grüner Veltliner.

2016 Envinate Taganan
Spain, Canary Islands, Tenerife, Tacoronte-Acentejo
Tasted double blind.
Odd nose, some traces of old oak, spicy, there's acidity but the wine has quite some flesh on the body. Good stuff. I guessed Jurancon or Portugal.

2017 4 Kilos Vi de La Tierra Mallorca Sa Cussa Antònia Blanco
Spain, Balearic Islands, Vi de La Tierra Mallorca
Tasted double blind.
Has a lot of yeasty tones on the nose, some effervescence, low acidity, quite fat body. Volcanic mineral salt on the nose.

2016 Domaine d'E Croce (Yves Leccia) L'Altru Biancu
France, Corsica, Île de Beauté
Tasted double blind. Lots of sea salt, volcanic, edgy, cool bordering on unforgiving.

2016 Argyros Assyrtiko
Greece, Aegean, Cyclades, Santorini
Tasted double blind. So much punch from the fruit and acidity, but has body too. A little paint thinner, but its all very nicely put together. Excellent. My wine of the flight. Recommended.
