WIllamette Valley Planning Party

Introduction

We were doing "research" for our upcoming trip to the Willamette Valley. The standout wine of the evening - and the most expensive - was from Penner-Ash, but the $20 bottle from Four Graces was also quite nice. The Gran Moraine just did not offer much intrigue.

Full disclosure... Pinot is not our go to wine. So maybe we just have to do more "research" to find pinots we like! :-)

  • 2016 Penner-Ash Pinot Noir Willamette Valley 91 Points

    USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley

We liked it! This one had layers of flavors - cherries, raspberries, some very nice spice. This was one of a bunch of Willamette pinots for the night. We were doing "research" for our upcoming trip to the Willamette Valley. This was the standout wine of the evening - and the most expensive - but certainly convinced us that we need to visit Penner-Ash when we go in a few weeks! The $20 bottle from Four Graces was also quite nice. The 2017 Gran Moraine just did not offer much intrigue.

  • 2017 The Four Graces Pinot Noir Willamette Valley 90 Points

    USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley

We liked it. This was one of a bunch of Willamette pinots for the night. We were doing "research" for our upcoming trip to the Willamette Valley. The standout wine of the evening - and the most expensive - was from Penner-Ash, but this $20 bottle from Four Graces was also quite nice. We got very nice flavors of tart cherries, some cranberry, nice spices, and some quite enjoyable sense of earthiness. Sometimes the earthiness in pinots can really put me off. That was NOT the case with this wine. On the whole, this wine had excellent Q/P/V. The third wine in this group was a 2017 from Gran Moraine. The Gran Moraine just did not offer much intrigue at all.

Full disclosure... Pinot is not our go to wine. So maybe we just have to do more "research" to find pinots we like! :-)
