Big, full nose of ripe fruit with plenty of layering of earth, floral and spice notes that are for the moment overshadowed by the fruit. The palate is rich and ripe but so fresh and bright. Terrific combination of power and elegance. Spectacular with upside from here.
Next to the 2015 this has an equally full, powerful nose but there is a seamlessness to the aromas that are integrated and in harmony. Wow, the palate is showing amazing purity and richness. So sexy and long. A sensational vintage for this wine.
Among the four vintages this is clearly the most big, brooding and dense. Came across more firm/structured as less approachable right now. In the flight and in this study, less enjoyable than a late-night bottle last month in Burgundy. Low 90s today with plenty of upside in a decade or two.
A beautifully complex nose that is showing the most evolution in the flight. Not surprising given the relative age. Earthy red cherry with dried florals. Palate is complex but still quite bright, juicy and fresh. Plenty of stuffing and a long finish. This bottle would suggest a long life ahead, and potentially even some upside.
