Flight 1 (6 Notes)

  • 2014 Domaine des Homs Vin de Pays d'Oc Tersande

France, Languedoc Roussillon, Vin de Pays d'Oc

    80% Grenache & 20% Syrah; 13.5% ABV

N: Spicy straws with floral undertones, the intensity increasing with addt'l air

P: Med, poss LM, body; Almost swtish frt met by a bit of astringent pucker which pretty much works itself out by the Long, VERY slightly astringent finish which begs for either food or another sip. [As of late Apr '20, wine-searcher shows no sources for this vintage].

  • 2015 Bonpas Côtes du Rhône Reserve de Bonpas

France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Côtes du Rhône

    N: FRAGRANT flowers/berries

P: LM body; Nice frt met by an astringent pucker which quite mitigates by the Long, VERY pleasant finish. Could well improve for 6 mos or so, then hold into mid '19 min. Very nicely done, particularly given the $9.95 @ which it was tasted. [As of late Apr '20, wine-searcher shows no sources for this vintage].

  • 2011 Domaine Gilles Troullier Côtes Catalanes L'esprit du temps

France, Languedoc Roussillon, Roussillon, Côtes Catalanes

N: An ATTRACTIVE melange of spice, flowers, berries, & earth, but tough to parse beyond that

P: MF, poss Med, body; Almost swtish frt quickly met by an astringent pucker which only SOMEWHAT irons itself out by the LONG, slightly astringent finish. NEEDS 3 yrs min, but quite IMPRESSIVE given this vendor's $19.95! :) 94 pts WA; [As of late Apr '20, wine-searcher shows no sources for this vintage].

  • 2014 Les Vignerons de Maury Côtes du Roussillon Villages President Bories

France, Languedoc Roussillon, Roussillon, Côtes du Roussillon Villages

N: Lovely flowers with notes of berries

P: Med body; ALMOST swtish frt (threshold R.S.?) met by an astringent pucker which only somewhat resolves by the Lingering, very slightly bitterish finish. A niche wine for swtish cuisines? [As of late Apr '20, wine-searcher shows no sources for this vintage].

  • 2011 La Pèira en Damaisèla Terrasses du Larzac Las Flors de La Pèira

France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Terrasses du Larzac

Cf. the CellarTracker Article link [lower lft] to get specific info for this vintage, including acclaim.

N: Closed, but seems ripe/jammy with notes of flowers, poss some forest floor?

P: MF body; Almost swtish frt met by some astringent pucker which almost totally works itself out by the Long, spicy, almost swtish finish. May improve for the near term, then hold into '20. [As of late Apr '20, wine-searcher shows no sources for this vintage].

  • 2014 Domaine Lafage Côtes du Roussillon Bastide Miraflors

France, Languedoc Roussillon, Roussillon, Côtes du Roussillon

N: Very slight closed; Nice flowers & berries

P: Med, poss LM, body; ALMOST swtish frt (approaching threshold R.S.?) met by an astringent pucker, the spicy tanginess of which extends into the long finish. Should provide pleasant drinking through '18, longer poss being problematic because of the potentially threshold R.S.? (On the other hand, I may well be quite underrating this IF it's frt rather than R.S. I'm tasting.) 14.5% ABV; 92 pts WA & 89 winealign.com . [As of early May '20, wine-searcher still shows 1 source @ $16].

    Addendum: Also tasted on 2/18, 6/10, & 11/18/17
