Wally Kerr set up a fun dinner at Trattoria Caterina in the South Loop themed around wines from Southern Italy. Good company and a fun evening, although I found a few of the wines a little hit and miss - a few were done in a very generic/'international' style and didn't show well over time and with food.
The Serpicos were double decanted several hours in advance and showed very well.
Thanks again Wally for setting this up.

Light yellow colour with frothy bubbles. Pleasant nose of cream, toast, yeast and apples. Light bodied on the palate with more apple, yeast and some citrus fruits, good acidity and a clean finish.

2005 Feudi di San Gregorio Greco di Tufo 85 Points
Italy, Campania, Greco di Tufo DOCG
Interesting nose - yellow flowers, some tropical/white fruit and a strange camphor-like note. Fairly light on the palate with very little fruit evident, stony minerals and moderate acidity.

2005 Petilia Fiano di Avellino 88 Points
Italy, Campania, Fiano di Avellino DOCG
Light golden-yellow colour. Started off with a lot of musty funk on the nose which blew off fairly quickly to show pleasant beeswax and floral notes over peach flavours. Palate is medium bodied with more peach and white fruit flavours, moderate acidity and a slightly short finish.
