Our friend decided to make homemade, proper French Rotisserie Chicken and Ratatouille (a la Julia Child) outdoors, for the end of summer. Or maybe for no reason.
There were potatoes (cooked under the chicken drippings) and tasty bread to dip in the juices. It ended with strawberry shortcake and homemade, whipped cream.
I brought only French wine to pair with the meal.
The 2006 wine was terrific. The 2005 appears to have been an off bottle. And the rose went quite well with the strawberry shortcake.

Drinking quite well. Lovely perfume, red fruit, tar, oak and tannins. A great pairing with the rotisserie chicken, potatoes and the ratatouille.
Drank better than the 2005 bottle to me.

2005 Château La Vieille Cure 90 Points
France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Fronsac
The wine was tasty on its own, with red and black, fruit, stewed fruits, plum, perhaps a bit of olive tapenade. But more tannic than the 2006 vintage that we drank before, and not as charming. Perhaps needs more time?
A good pairing with the homemade rotisserie chicken.
Drink now or hold.

Always a reliable summer wine. This time with strawberry shortcake, which did pair ok. (Better than the sauternes I brought, for sure!)
