France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin
Nose: The nose is upfront and quasi-new world with plums, pomegranate, raspberries, tart red cherries, spice notes, herbs, and a touch of earth tones. There is decent depth but the entire nose is somewhat non-descript.
Taste: The feel is medium bodied with tart, medium acidity and youthful, medium+ tannins. The feel is plush with the upfront quality on the nose carrying through with plums, pomegranate, raspberries, spice notes, and herbs.
Overall: As a red burg, this is just okay. As a pinot noir, it's enjoyable with an upfront tart, red-fruited take that is easy drinking.
Nose: The nose shows off a lot of tart red fruits of raspberries, pomegranate, plums, sour red cherries, spice notes, violets, liqueur and a hint of earth tones. There is solid depth with this showing a good bit of flesh to the tones.
Taste: The feel is Medium/full bodied with chewy, medium+ tannins and medium acidity. The feel is balanced and fleshy with raspberries, pomegranate, sour red cherries, violets, and spice notes.
Overall: This shows a lot of upfront and sour red fruits. There's a lot of baby fat and flesh right now with decent depth across the nose and palate.
Nose: The nose is pungent and upfront with sour red cherries, raspberries, plums, brown spices, earth, and some savory herbs. There is good depth with the nose showing a fleshiness and sour red fruits.
Taste: The feel is medium bodied with tart, medium+ acidity and silky, medium tannins. There is a plushness to the feel with sour red cherries, raspberries, plums, brown spices, earth, and savory herbs.
Overall: This was the most burgundy of the three reds that were tasted. This shows off riper red fruits with a touch of savory and earthy qualities that are very enjoyable.
Nose: The nose is upfront and riper with peaches, spiced pears, nectarines, a touch of tropical citrus, red apples, and roasted nuts. There is a friendliness to the nose but it lacks depth and intrigue.
Taste: The feel is Medium/full bodied with medium acidity. There is a bit of alcohol sting on the back end along with peaches, spiced pears, nectarines, tropical citrus, and roasted nuts.
Overall: This is a very good and friendly Meursault. I don't see this benefiting from a lot of age as it's not disjointed, it just lacks depth and the acidity lacks verve.
Nose: The nose is very forward and waxy with lanolin, peaches, red apples, vanilla beans, pears, and yellow flowers.
Taste: The feel is medium bodied with medium acidity. The palate and acidity is a bit flabby and lacking with lanolin, peaches, red apples, pears, and vanilla.
Overall: This was pretty forgettable. It's fine and inoffensive, but it really doesn't bring much past that.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
Nose: This was a clear step up and showed off a broader style with red apples, quince, meyer lemons, waxy notes, peaches, yellow flowers, and a touch of saline. There is good depth, but this does seem a bit tightly coiled at the moment.
Taste: The feel is full bodied with crisp, medium+ acidity. The acidity does add some tension and the feel is well balanced with red apples, quince, wax notes, meyer lemons, peaches, and saline.
Overall: This was very good, but also in need of some aging or decanting. I could see it benefiting from 5+ years of aging and can see this getting much better than it was showing today.
Nose: The nose is exuberant and fresh with pears, apples, peaches, white flowers, crushed rocks, saline, and some apple blosoms. There is excellent depth and balance with an open-knit take.
Taste: The feel is Medium bodied with crisp, medium+ acidity. The feel is elegant and refined with pears, apples, peaches, white flowers, crushed rocks, and saline.
Overall: This is drinking great right now, but it can benefit from a few years of age. It shows off more upfront fruit as the vintage seems to be showing but along with good depth and balance.
Nose: The nose is pristine, balanced, and fresh with white fruits, pears, green apples, jasmine, apple blossoms, and flint notes. There is good complexity and depth, but this seems a little coiled up at the moment.
Taste: The feel is Medium bodied with tart, high acidity. There is excellent balance and class with white fruits, pears, green apples, jasmine, and flint notes.
Overall: This feels like it has a lot more to give in a few years. There is a lot of purity along with excellent balance, but it feels like it can become more expressive in time.
