4-5 years bottle age. Honeyed, spice, green apple, earth and fresh laundry on the nose. Fresh acidity as well, with good fruit clarity and complexity sitting underneath. Plenty of zip to it, with a lovely mix of freshness and interest.
Out of half bottle. Mandarin, wax, melon and pencil shavings. Palate is pretty rounded out with a slight oxidative twang that clips the finish slightly. Feels like it's a touch past its best, which is fairly unsurprising out of half bottle.
Floral, lemon peel, passionfruit and mint leaves. Good energy, ripe fruit with good carry and flow. Really nice balance here, with some potential for upside as well.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
Pear, lemon, wax, melon and floral notes on the nose - really good lift here. Lovely profile on the palate as well, with oak that compliments the fruit and finds excellent balance. Super length and style even this early on.
Lime, orange, peaches and orange on the nose. Lovely balance with good length here. Concentrated sweetness but it tastes delicious and has some depth to the flavour even in its youth. Give it time now.
Strawberry, violets, turkish delight, spice and plums with graphite as well. Delicate on the palate, with light fruit sweetness that sits well among the spice and earth. Nice length here as well. Drink now.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
Cherry, graphite, floral - pretty nose. Appealing profile on the palate as well, medium bodied with red fruits and crisp acid cut. Good fruit purity here.
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Cherry liquer, smoky bacon, sweet red cherry and plums. Palate has more of that bacon character along with plenty of acid (maybe a little too much) and drying tannins. Feels like this is drinking pretty well now and over the next 5 years.
Raspberry, graphite, strawberry, smoky spice and red currant. Medium bodied on the palate, the red fruit shines through along with finely outlined structure. Good length and potential to improve further.
Raspberry, redcurrant, some earthy clay and spice. Palate has upfront sweet fruit but has good flow and control with some fine tannins and some of that spice flowing through the line and length of the wine. Should be served well with time.
Blind. Redcurrants, smoky oak, blackberry, plum and earth. Palate has settled down nicely, but has plenty of earthy characters and the fruit power is still lurking. Feels like another 5-6 years wouldn't be a problem at all here.
Very peppery, with cherry, citrus ring and flowers. Tangy acid on the palate with that citrus peel showing through as well - good length and plenty of structure from that acid. This will hold and hold for some time as long as the fruit stays fresh.
Roses, cherry, spice and smoky. Rippling tannins, intense and full fruit with lots of structure backing it up. Obviously needs a lot of time, but the potential is there for sure.
Smoke, tar and red berries on the nose. The palate is medium-full bodied, there is balance there, but the wine depth needs time to unfurl, this is really tight and controlled right now. Good value and would love to see this with time.
Mandarin, lemon peel, vanilla and yellow floral notes. Spice and acid intertwine on the palate, this has lovely balance with the sweetness there but not dominating. Super length and flow.
Spices, lemon, quince and lime. Pretty well balanced, doesn't lean too strongly on its sugar weight (~200 g/l), so it still feels cool and very drinkable. Excellent value for icewine.
