Flight 1 (8 Notes)

  • 2019 Château Haut-Rian Blanc 89 Points

    France, Bordeaux

60% Semillon, 40% Sauvignon Blanc. No oak, four months of lees aging in stainless steel tanks. Crisp citrus and honeydew fruit, fresh white flowers, seashell, and light grassy notes. Very nice late Spring/Summer white.

  • 2016 Prodigal Pinot Noir 88 Points

USA, California, Central Coast, Sta. Rita Hills

Similar notes as the previous tasting. The nose leans more toward earthy, dried leaf aromas than I previously detected. That fades with some swirling and is not present on the bright, crunchy palate.

  • 2015 Vinos Altamente Jumilla Volalto 86 Points

    Spain, Murcia, Jumilla

Seemed off. Ripe, spiced black/blue fruits that come across as syrupy in nature. Rich, silky tannins coat the berry, cola, and spiced fruitcake flavor on the palate. Not necessarily bad, I feel like I have better from Jumilla.

  • 2017 Argiano Non Confunditur Toscana IGT 88 Points

    Italy, Tuscany, Toscana IGT

Plums, cherries, raspberry, black currant, and green bell pepper in the nose. Bitter espresso shines on the dry, fine-grained tannic finish. It needs some time to develop.

  • 2019 Anko Malbec Salta 90 Points

    Argentina, Valles Calchaquíes, Salta

Wine of the tasting. Dark and red fruits are co-mingled with spices, rich, savory mid-palate, and softer, supple tannins. Balanced and understated for an Argentinian Malbec.

  • 2018 Seis Soles Wine Company Red Blend 88 Points

    USA, California, Central Valley, Lodi

This is a Lodi sourced blend of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon; it sees some time in older American and French barrels. This runs a touch hot and is big, bold, hearty fruited with spice and vanilla oak nuances.

  • 2004 Le Cadeau Pinot Noir Diversite 93 Points

    USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley

Lovely bottle. Intensely divine aromatics ranging from tea, dried raspberry, green olive, and spice. Balanced and lively on the palate. Hands down, the favorite from the tasting.
