Introduction

This session covered quite a lot of ground in only five wines, so naturally we didn't get to taste an example of every wine style discussed. White and rosé wines from southern France and Portugal were notable in their absence, unfortunately. Nonetheless, given the time constraints, this was a good look at these regions!

Flight 1 - Red, white, and rosé wines of the Southern Rhône valley & Southern France (3 Notes)

No white or rosé wines, but a good lineup nonetheless. I normally really love Gigonas wines, but was initially a bit underwhelmed with this example: I think it was simply still rather closed. I guess it will shine with a few years' more ageing.

Closing

The wines were all enjoyable, even if the Gigondas was a bit closed at first. The Priorat was my favourite, and it was interesting to try a 'new' (lighter bodied) style Priorat.
