Slightly reduced for the first 30 minutes, but this blossoms in the decanter. Loads of mineral, crisp orchard fruit and chalkiness. Plenty of rich fruit that is in harmony with the taut acid backbone. At peak now. Very white burg like.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
A solid but not exceptional Ramonet. Seems the richness and fatness of the vintage mask some of the usual Ramonet magic. Lots of fun, rich, mineral-laden tropical fruit with balance for now just not as nuanced or layered as you'd like.
Having recently tasted the 02 Meo Brûlées and Vougeot, I had high hopes for this and it delivered in spades. Classically Vosne with loads of Asian spice layered into round, sweet, approachable black cherry. Concentration and complexity that shows above its Village level. At peak and should hold at this level for 5+ years.
With a double decant this is really rocking. Plenty of Vosne spice adds complexity to rich, ripe and reasonably powerful fruit in the context of a Village wine. Shows 1er cru quality and depth. In a peak zone that should hold for a decade.
Fairly tight on pop n' pour though it opens up over the evening. Premier Cru concentration and suave, ripe, silky fruit that has plenty of Vosne spice and black tea character. Needs a few more years to hit it's peak drinking window. Upside from here.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
Full, intense Vosne-spice and smoke filled aromas. Perfectly mature on the pallet with a mix of fresh and dried black cherry with lots of spice and florals. Harmonious with structure fully in tune with the fruit. At peak now. Should hold, but no reason to hold any longer.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
My first time with a Jadot Chaumes. This is very impressive and very Vosne with sexy, rich, spice-filled, full throttle black cherry. Exuberant youthful fruit. So fun right now.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
This had several hours of air and showed reasonably approachable though it is still quite clearly young, and quite clearly 2005. Vosne spice and black tea comes through but texturally this is firm and more clunky than you'd like in a Vosne 1er. Needs another decade -- upside from here.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
Ripe and flashy with more meaty black fruit than the 2014 tasted side-by-side. While its more meaty on a relative basis, this still offers plenty of Vosne spice though the spice is perhaps second fiddle to the rich, ripe fruit.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
Smooth, concentrated black cherry with nice Vosne spice and florals. 3-5 years until this hits peak. Showing a touch compressed and short right now but with plenty of promise.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
Very Vosne and very 2007. Enticing, full, complex nose that has mature black cherry, Vosne spice, smoke, black tea and toasted herbs. Palate is lush with just enough acidity to provide freshness and lift. At peak now and should hold for a few years.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
Nicely expressive and complete, like many 2010s, with pronounced spice. Structure is still notable and as such this shows a little angular and firm on the mid-palate. Stuffing and balance to age gracefully. Should hit a peak drinking window in 3-5 years.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
Powerful, meaty, spicy black cherry. Fun to drink now though its more flash and exuberant spice (not a bad thing) at this stage. Should mature into a more nuanced wine in 10+ years. Certainly a bargain Malconsorts and worth seeking out.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
A wow wine with spectacular, powerful, ethereal aromas of smoky black cherry laced with intense Vosne spice and dried florals. The palate has Grand Cru concentration with an weightless elegance. Long, lifted, nuanced finish.
