Flight 1 (3 Notes)

  • 2018 La Fiorita Rosso di Montalcino 87 Points

Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Rosso di Montalcino

Pale ruby, with some browning and fading on edges, and quite viscous. Vinous nose, with aromas of red cherry, dill, mint, rosemary, cocoa, and tar. Mouthwatering acids, some tannin bite, with tart red cherry and raspberry flavours, dill, roses, cloves, nutmeg and tar. The alcohol though, was high and not well integrated, resulting in a wine that was in my opinion jarring and off-balanced

  • 2012 La Fiorita Brunello di Montalcino 91 Points

Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino

Medium ruby, with some browning and fading on edges, and quite viscous. Quite a strong nose with ripe raspberry and cherry, cinnamon, vanilla, and fresh herbs. Quite a bite from tannins, some weight, mouthwatering acids, and heightened alcohol heat, and ripe strawberry and cherry flavours, as well as pepper, cloves, mint and tar. Fairly long finish, and fairly complex

  • 2013 La Fiorita Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 92 Points

Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino

Pale ruby, with some browning and fading on edges. Aromas of red cherry, mint, moss, dark florals, cocoa, caramel and tar. Tannins generally rounded with still a slight bite, and some alcohol burn, fairly ripe red cherry flavours, and green grass, coffee, nutmeg, and a slight bit of barnyard and tar. A good length and fairly complex. Nice!
