Burgundy Village 2018 Tasting

Tasting of 5 different Village Pinots and additionally one from California and one from Germany.
Bottles were opened a couple of hours before.
All wines tasted blind from Zalto Universal glasses.

Just as a starter, not tasted blind.

• 2012 Bollinger Champagne La Grande Année

  France, Champagne

  Not many bubbles, so maybe not a perfect bottle.
  Still good stuff, fresh, not too broad, very well balanced

All wines tasted blind one after another and then retasted in mixed order.

  France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny

  Cherry, subtle use of oak, finishes with iron, delicate tannins, very light and elegant

• 2018 Agnès Paquet Pommard Les Combes 90 Points

  France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Pommard

  bolder than Chambolle, needs air and time, tannins are more present, slightly alcoholic in the finish

  Easily detected as not from Burgundy
  concentrated, a little bit jammy, sweet red fruit, warm, medium tannins and good length

  Great expression of Pinot Noir and very different to Vosne or Chambolle.
  Minerality, complex, earthy, some red berries, very elegant, good structure/Tannins, whole-cluster, eucalyptus

Overall great expression of the different terroir.
The Sonoma Coast Pinot was simple to detect as not from France.
