Aged chocolate core of crimson with lar orange red rim; saddle leather on the nose, fennel seed, sour cherry, balsamic, orange zest, tobacco; savory palate, good mid palate weight, late dry tannins, touch of cherry liqueur, on the higher end of the ripeness scale, cedar; very nice and in a good spot; called Riserva level Barolo.
Darker ruby; pure dark cherry, roses, pure fruit, slight blue, sexy, some whole cluster, floral and tea, Pinot like but getting more green peppercorn, savory, mushroom, pleasant tickle of tannin but more Cote Rotie-esque, lifted yet so savory, where is the mineral; sexy wine.
Cloudy golden yellow; high toned, some acetic, light yet heavy, musk, almond, beeswax, funky and natural yet a classic quality to this, special, young, probably better tomorrow, lighter texture but you can tell it is going to fill out more with time/air; either Jura or natty Burg?
Very dark core; dark fruit, blackberry, saline, larger scaled, briny, black olive, black plum, mineral, backed black fruit, some bitter mineral- schist?, perfumed blue fruit quality on the finish; juicy Cornas?
USA, California, Napa Valley, Spring Mountain District
Opaque core with thin purple rim; tar, blackcurrant, cassis, dark chocolate, some menthol, some herb, ripe dark fruit on the cusp of being overdone; Turley Rattlesnake Petite Sirah?
