France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
See through ruby; juicy nose, tart red fruit, raspberry, sour and dusty cherry, a bit brutal and young showing muscular acids, tea, herbal backend; Burgundian but elegant CdP.
See through crimson with orange rim; lovely nose, crushed roses, sweet strawberry, sour cherry, perfumed and pretty; the palate is a different story, almost astringent, wiry, searing, acids, coiled and not showing much, orange, super noble but needs tons more time, closes with sour acid and almost bitterness; give this 6 to 10 more years before trying again; gorgeous nose with firm palate- didn't follow the clues but was in Serralunga- called young Cappellano Pie Rupestris.
Paler straw yellow; green pyrazines, lemon grass, verbena, white melon, pomelo, oolong tea, white flower, structured, young and powerful, not lifted but aromatic, interesting; most in Bordeaux Blanc.
Cloudy, aged, brick rim; spicy, brick dust, clay, spicy, leather, mushroom, green pepper, black tea, truffle, drying out a bit, horse, mature, red currant, off year, tastes old.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
Turbid, murky plum; iron, almost granite, mulled plum, salty mineral, still purple fruit, broad and expansive, a hardness to the edge, brighter mineral, olives, anchovy, still youthful, driving acids; fooled me for '98 Rostaing.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
Duller ruby core with pale rim; strawberry jam, raspberry, a bright limestone mineral note in the back, fresh and juicy, liqueured, sappy, great texture and mid palate, cherry pit, good fat but a wiry core suggests a long life ahead.
Opaque core with thin maroon rim; so perfumed, truffle, musk, dark leather, touch of green, super noble, Cuban cigar, graphite, broad swaths on the palate, dark chocolate, a bit monolithic, good depth; '00 Pichon Baron?
Italy, Tuscany, Montepulciano, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano
Dark ruby crimson, young; sexy nose, strawberry and cherry, Italian, focused and elegant, sour cherry and plum, very youthful acids, a bit short but should blossom with more time, fine grippy tannin; great but needs time; '16 Il Marroneto BdM?
Dark crimson core with orange rim; dusty, meaty, leather, plump cherry, balsamic, slight balm and pine, a roasted quality, plum, good liqueured cherry, a bit heavy, medicinal, large scaled; '07 Einaudi Cannubi?
