Not the same spice and elegance as the Vosne wines, but still showing very well. Some more oak coming through on the nose together with a slightly darker fruit character (more black cherry). The tannins are slightly powdery (i.e. «chalky»). Pretty acidity and lovely balance. 20% whole bunch vinification.

Needs a bit more coaxing in the glass, but comes across as more elegant than the previous wines on the nose. Dark raspberries and some black cherry as well. Lovely mouthfeel and good amount of power. More structured than the Clos des Grandes Vignes. Very enjoyable wine with a slightly powdery finish. Long and gorgeous example of Aux Cras.

Slight preference for the Aux Cras. The nose shows raspberries, some darker berries and a slightly earthy chocolaty note. Good weight of fruit and quite a lot of «grand cru power», but lacking some of the precision and elegance of some of the Domaines top wines. Well integrated tannins and a great wine. Just in excellent company.

Wow! What a wine the Echézeaux is. The nose here is gorgeous. Stylistically quite different from the Clos Vougeot. Sensual and poised nose with dark red fruit. Some lovely smoke and spice notes that is nicely integrated with the fruit.
The palate shows a layered core of vibrant fruit and maintains a masterful balance between elegance and power that is admirable. Rich and concentrated, you can sense the power, but the wine still comes across as rather elegant and light on its feet. The structure and tannins are definitely there, but with always maintaining a silky touch. Good freshness and a very long and slightly mineral finish.
Who ever has this in there cellar is in luck. I suppose this will push into 97 points after some cellaring (96+ for now).

The Echézeaux vineyard consists of 11 lieux-dits. Where this cuvee is produced from the following three: Le Cruots ou Vignes Blanches (0.33 ha.), Les Champs Traversin (0.255 ha.) and Clos Saint-Denis (0.03). Beginning with the 2020 vintage Louis-Michel has added Echezeaux du Dessus to the mix.

The Aux Reignots is special. Stylistically different from the Echézeaux. More spice and structure than the Echézeaux, but both posses some exceptional Michel-Liger «magic».
Fresh and precise nose with lovely depth of fruit. Dark raspberries and a touch of wild strawberries. Again some lovely spice notes and a slightly floral touch. Excellent.

It starts off with a majestic nose that is beautifully poised. A lovely and layered bouquet of red fruits (wild raspberries in the front) and some floral notes (purple flowers). Picking up a little dash of wild strawberries and the “usual” smoke and spice.
On the palate there is lots of fruit and power, but at the same time it appears effortless. Refined layers of ripe red fruit and the slightest bit of darker fruits. A pretty mineral core provide nice structure throughout. It is quite special how all the elements in this wine just melt beautifully together. The tannins arrive early, but are so elegantly wrapped in the wealth of fruit. This wine builds beautifully in the mouth. Power and refinement. Lovely freshness finishing very long with a zen-like balance. An absolute gorgeous bottle of Burgundy. Probably my best Burgundy to date.
Score: 98-99 points (99 is upside with cellaring)

2019 Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair Vosne-Romanée La Colombiere 91 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée
Elegant and red fruited nose with the a touch of wild raspberries in the back. Some spice and dark cocoa coming through on the nose (“Vosne spice” if you like). Touch of smokiness.
Poised and well balanced palate with the slightest tannins in the back. Refreshing acidity and good length. The oak is noticeable, but well judged. This cuvée is approachable, but I would give it a couple of years in the cellar before approaching. I was a bit back and forth, but ended up having a slight preference for the Clos de Chateau.

2019 Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair Vosne-Romanée Clos du Château 92 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée
I was a bit back and forth on the Clos du Chateau vs the Colombiere. At first I preferred the Colombier, but with time in the glass I ended up with a preference for the CdC. Showing some lovely ripe raspberries. More prevalent spice compared to the Colombier and a slightly tighter and more precise palate in my opinion. Good length.
