Yeah, this was WOTD for the whites. It always is and always will be. This was bright and clear colored. I have had a bottle, as has Jamie, that was darker and didn’t show the vibrancy. Cork issues? Maybe but it’s good to know that it’s not a vintage issue.
Flint and matchstick scream out of the glass. Strong acid and lemon spine but balanced. Finish is long long long.
I’m never tasted a better California Chardonnay.

Slightly darker in color than the 2014 Santa Cruz but hey, it’s different fruit so the comparison is not fair. A little reduction on the nose and jalapeño. Sweet citrus. There’s a lemon drop quality at the finish.

The color has a green hue, that’s a good sign for me. Nose is lemon zest with an emphasis on the zest. I’m tasting the matchstick or sulphur which typically stays as an aroma. I’m okay with that. Tart pear and a short finish. This doesn’t quite have the acid of the others, it’s still great, just not the crisp corners.

This contrasts the. 2016, here is about strong acid, zippy lemon and big lime flavors. Angular and tense. It might be too lean for some but it’s stylistically Kutch.

Nice wine with good all around qualities. Light yellow color. Dried herb aroma. Medium acid and yellow citrus. Glycerin mouthfeel. Medium plus finish.

I put a “+++” in my notes. I guess I liked it. LOL Has the markers of Chablis. Lemon pith is laced across the palate, you better like that, and it comes with that bitter note. Stoney quality, we debated slate, river rock, or something else. Let’s call it a muted mineral influence.

Nose is muted, hey it’s a baby. Ripe lemon, stone minerals and a tart lime finish. I had mint written down and FMIII asked “anyone get spearmint on the 2020?”. Scratch the “mint” and replace with spearmint. It has the menthol affect like you get with Wrigley’s double mint gum when I was a kid.

Awesome - my WOTD for the Kutch tasting. First of all, not only is 2011 underrated as a vintage, it’s my favorite California vintage. An this might be my favorite of 2011, top 5 for sure.
Looking like an older burg in the glass, light brick color. Aromas of cedar emanate from the glass. Very euro in its presence. Red berry fruit, primarily raspberry and light strawberry mid palate through the finish. Cedar hangs around to the end.

Still holding its color, quite dark, a purple haze. Nose had a intriguing herbal note that reminded me of Nori for you sushi fans out there. Lots of tannins still showing with a moss flavor, raspberry and a hint of salinity.

Stem influence up front here. There’s a red cherry flavor on the attack but raspberry is the dominate fruit.

Fairly dark. I get Chambord, red fruit and a whiff of stems. Fruit forward, not bad, just a little fat compared to the lineup.

There’s a charred wood influence but I know these are neutral barrels so it might the stems were fully lignified. What does lignin taste like? This wine has the most acid of the SC lineup. There’s a bite to this wine which is in juxtaposition to the strawberry fruit taste.

Nose is spicy and cinnamon stick. Less ripe fruit and more spice notes. I’m sensing jalapeño pepper, it’s not a green note, but the capsaicin.

Everything in moderation with this vintage from my perspective. I wrote “smooth”. The strawberry starts off and backed by light ripe raspberry. Tannins are rounded out and take a backseat. Very approachable.

Potpourri of red fruit as I worked this around the glass and then even revisited to make sure I wasn’t making things up. Strawberry, raspberry, dark cherry, and probably a few other options that makes for a great conversation piece. Love the stem and oak influence showing as sandalwood , that is all goodness for me.

Very unusual color. Looks like strawberry soda. Has a cinnamon quality like a red hot. Very soft mouthfeel. Earthy base.

Mind boggling this bottle was 20 years old. I really enjoyed this for the surprise and the flavors of strawberry and cherry. It doesn't have much nerve at this stage but entertaining regardless
